Falling back is less of a nice day when you have a small child who doesn't understand time yet, and pets who will never understand the concept. Had to wake up at the same time, but the city thinks I'm up early.

Turns out my one year old likes heavy metal. He also likes head shoulders knees and toes. He's got layers.

Driving is wild, sometimes you decide you don't want to wait another minute so you take a risk and do ~$10,000 of damage to you and another car because of it. Saw a crash behind me that bent an axle on the truck trying to turn in front of a car. I think that's the 5th 10k wreck I've seen this year.

Ever get a random bag of frozen soup on your doorstep? It's not the worst thing to get even though it is very confusing. (Turns out a friend left it but forgot to tell us)

One day I'll stop being surprised when my kid wakes up in the middle of the night during a growth spurt. Not today though, he was up a bunch last night.

Finished "Bomb Power" by Garry Wills. Kudos to @jamellebouie.net for mentioning it. It's an easier read than I thought, it's also a more frustrating subject than I thought. Well worth a read.

Warm sunny fall days are nice but that noon sun always catches my off guard.

Podcasts are funny, because we heard that radio was dead because tv killed it and no one wants to listen when they can watch, but then 20 years later every single influencer has a podcast.

I love that this managed to teach me three very different things while telling a coherent story.
in case you missed it on tuesday, here was this week's WORK IS FOUR LETTERS, in which i got the opportunity to talk with @misswhatsis.bsky.social about urban planning, zoning, and new hampshire's insane state legislature.
Ivy | Urban Planner
I watched a lot of towns in southern New Hampshire zone themselves out of existence.

Thanks to @booktweeting.bsky.social for suggesting Drive! It's a very good book that left me in tears twice, and with sympathetic anger once. (The good kind of tears and anger though, the kind that make you feel more human)

Every other winter I take up knitting again, and every time I wonder why I ever stopped knitting. It's easier to watch TV or listen to a podcast to, about as expensive as a game, and at the end I have a nice knit thing.

I think we should officially accept teef and toof as the word for baby teeth and a baby tooth.

"Trunk or Treat" is one of the few things I actually think are a sign of a decayed society. Instead of going to peoples houses and walking sidewalks, your parents meet with other parents at a parking lot and you walk to different cars. Just feels bad in my soul.

Today I learned that rhinestones used to be made from stones from the Rhine. Is fun when words explain themselves like that.

I need coffee and sugar to actually be level and not swing my energy levels around like a roller coaster. Either that or I need to get better at what I drink.

Middle hard work tasks are frustrating to start. They're open ended and I know I can do a bad but ok job in about 3 hours. I want to do the 5 hour good job, but it's not due till Friday and I really want to not work on it at all.

I do not like navigating allergy shots and colds. Getting a cold and trying to stay in the 3 to 5 week window is tricky, especially when getting the syrum renewed and the doc is booking on next year. I'll get it sorted but it'll be nice if the shots are just done at the 5 year mark.

The respiratory thing has decided I don't need sleep. I got three hours last night and I'm not tired today. That's not to say I'm awake, I can't concentrate at all, I'm just not sleepy.

I don't like that I'm learning how i post while sick but at least I'm learning. I'm really not a fan of how fast I'm heading towards statistical significance. I need to sleep more and post less

Social media is funny because you slowly learn what hours people are up at, and then learn who had jobs that are super chill with goofing off. All without anyone telling you.

The first day of a cold is always special. Sore throat, sneezing and congested. Even with drugs it's clearly worse than yesterday.

My son's 10 months old and he's already introducing me to new foods. Turns out tofu is good and he was right to like it

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #452,792!
Truely wild to be so early.

My cat get's very anxious when we leave the house to go anywhere so I had to give him gabapentin. He was still upset to go to the vet, but he's also been stumbling around like a drunk or sleeping on the all day which is kinda fun to watch. (He's fine, but it'll take a bit to wear off)
