In 10 years, BC’s gas production grew by more than 2/3, while methane emissions fell by more than 50%. It met its 2025 methane target 2 years early and is making good progress to 2030. We urgently need federal regulations ensuring the rest of Canada catches up. www.hilltimes.com/story/2025/1...
Methane regulation is a climate-competitive home run
This year’s COP is a vital moment for Prime Minister Mark Carney to deliver on a key Canadian climate promise, showcase responsible energy development, and advance economic opportunities.

We’re glad to see #methane mentioned in the #federalbudget —but actions speak louder than words. Canada needs clear targets and timelines to drive these emissions down and give our kids a chance at a livable future. Cut it now - for our kids, our air, our future.

Here's a great story abt how New Mexico ranchers teamed up w/environmentalists, regulators and even oilfield contractors to attack the estimated $1.6B problem of unplugged oil & gas wells and storage facilities.

It all starts w/requiring adequate plugging bonds.

@climateinstitute.bsky.social is right: finalizing methane regulations for the oil and gas sector is one of the most effective ways to cut emissions quickly using existing, available, and effective technologies!

Methane pollution is fueling the climate crisis and harming communities.

The Trump EPA's unlawful delay of commonsense protections means more wasted gas, polluted air and climate damage. @envdefensefund.bsky.social & allies are fighting back. www.edf.org/Z6r8
