Why do people get so wrecked at a hockey game?

Little guy and I were at the Habs game last night… game started w/ some friendly chirping between fans.

Last 5mins was brutal. Leafs fans started antagonizing. Beer was thrown, learned new swears, and nearly had to get the little man out of there.

Called NB Power yesterday as some trees behind my property were arcing on the power lines. Disconcerting to hear the sizzling and see the smoke. They had a crew here within an hour to address. Great service!

Always proud to be Mason’s dad, but was a little extra proud this weekend.

The Capital Area Lacrosse Association U13 Cardinals won the gold at the Codiac Cup this weekend. The Codiac Storm put on a great tournament for the kids.

Definitely a Father’s Day memory I’ll cherish.

Friends, St Mary’s St (rte 148) north of Two Nations is down to one lane for paving.

Which means Two Nations and St Mary’s heading towards rte 105 is… slow. Like, brutally slow.

Construction season is upon us.

My little guy’s team won gold at their box lacrosse tournament over the weekend. I’m always proud of him but today I’m a little bit extra proud.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Unless that sentiment stirs up a bunch of bad stuff for you - then forget I ever said anything.

When I was a kid I was hunting along Prosser Brook. Crossing over a bridge I looked in the water and saw a wood duck.

It was the most beautiful bird I had ever seen. When I got back to the camp I told my dad and he said “why didn’t you shoot it?”.

Seemed awful to annihilate something so beautiful.

Sowed radish, spring garlic, and potatoes today.

Also prepped the bamboo stake trellis for the peas, beans, and cucumbers.

Started Roma tomatoes, strawberries, and flowers (marigolds, aster, and zinnias) indoors.

Anxiety about global politics is nil, lol.

Thank you, Canada.
For being yourselves when so many others are trying to be worse.
You reminded us that we are not alone.
Because of you, this morning felt a little less like the end of the world.
And more like something worth staying alive for.

Well, they sure showed Trudeau. The flags and stickers really made a difference.

Seedlings have been getting a little (lot) leggy and the spring sun through a window hasn’t been cutting it.

Cdn Tire had some led shop lights on sale with the right wavelength light (I know, it’s not full spectrum). They were a fair bit cheaper than grow lights.

Stay tuned to see if they work.

I’m glad he’s saying it, but I’m sad we live in a political climate that makes it necessary for him to say it.
Mark Carney: We will never roll back rights and freedoms. We will protect a woman’s right to choose what she does with her own body. We will protect LGTBQ+A rights and will never use the notwithstanding clause to limit rights.

Out the Lion’s Club in Killarney to vote. Steady string of voters but no wait. People working there today were lovely.

I’m thinking the polls might be way off - none of my business how anyone votes, but no belly aching if you don’t cast a ballot.

One thing that brings me joy and makes me feel alive (other than my family) is gardening. It’s just the best way to disconnect for a bit.

Spent the morning hoeing in compost, transplanting pepper seedlings (hello scotch bonnets!), and getting read to sow.

Pics from last year.

After watching that CPC ad with Andrew Scheer I think I really get why people have to cover their drinks at bars.

There’s so much more that this election should be about.

It seems to be a choice between a dog whistling US-light populist and a global capitalist. I can’t relate to Carney or Poilievre.

I’ll vote Liberal just because I think they’re the only party capable of resisting Trump’s annexation threat.

Started listening to Lorehammer, a Canadian Warhammer podcast, thinking it would knock me out and help me fall asleep.

Instead I became really interested in the story behind the game and can’t stop listening.

And now I’ve done a thing…
