Bike Calgary's latest count (end of 2024) was just over 30km for the whole city - dedicated wheeling infrastructure with physical separation from vehicles. This also does not include the sections of river pathway with dedicated cycling paths.

Hey Tim, I think this is just the small increase in operational funding to maintain (clear snow) from new 5A network infrastructure. No new capital dollars that I know of

I suspect that even if it is designated for riding bikes on, the police don't keep track of this information very well. It would help a lot if there was clear signage or markings on these routes.

My friend an I were stopped by an officer several years ago while riding on these sidewalks. We were told that we had to ride on the road, and that were no exceptions to the bylaw (i had said that 17 Av SE was an exception). We decided to move on instead of arguing further.

A parent shared with me a map made by their 9 year old child (of that intersection) which was sent to the city 3 years ago.
"Red X's indicate the locations I have almost been hit by cars" Think about that.
