Frustrated by therapists claiming "if you're not doing diagnosis, you're not doing therapy." This implies that specific cures for specific labels exist. But largely, they don't. We know therapy works, but not really why. (That's deeply uncomfortable, but here we are. That's the current science.) […]

Utterly bizarre: Take a cup of hot water out of the microwave, and when I put a teabag in it it, it whooshes and appears to start to bubble/boil. What the heck??

I guess one of chamomile or anise may slightly lower the boiling temp of the water, maybe?

Anyone have #sanfrancisco food suggestions for a person downtown (Post street) for the next few days? I love basically all types and styles of food -- happy for anything from a food truck recommendation to a fancier sit down place.

Main thing is it needs to either be walkable from this area or […]

#perimenopause self humor: Land at an airport, and finding myself all kinds of cranky at the signs: Go this way for taxis. Then get outside and it’s exactly the opposite direction.

In my head, “Estrogen is supposed to help with this rage!! Stop raging!”

Which at least makes me … laugh with […]

I don’t love that when I was deciding between two outfits this morning, the deciding factor was, “Well, doctors seem to treat me better when I’m well-dressed,” but that’s life.

Plus side, my nicer-dressed option is a reasonable travel dress from my last trip so it’s at least relatively comfortable.

@tootapp - The new update looks great, thanks for the work on this! I clicked the “toot is too cheap” button because of it. :-)

This is just to say

I have binned
the condiments
that were in
the back of the fridge

and which
we could not possibly
have been saving
for any discernible purpose

I ask no forgiveness
They were antique
so cold
and so impossibly past their use-by dates.

The first estrogen patch is on! 🤞🏻No whammies, less itchies, pls.

Also holy hell these are so tiny (and so clear!) compared to what my mom was using some 40 years ago.

The progesterone pills look like little buttered popcorn jelly beans. 🤣

Me, looking at Lyft and Uber to the airport: Yep, fuck this, very expensive now.

Me, looking at shuttle service: Why the fuck do you not have PRICES listed on the website, you absolute junkyard animals? This is literally your business.

Me, thinking about taxis: Fine for from airport, but […]

A lesser known Mastodon pro tip:

Want to mute a conversation, but the mute conversation button isn't appearing on the post?

The only way you can mute a conversation is on a post you have made in the conversation.

But the secret part - Say you want to mute it without actually participating in […]

Ooof. The great darkening is here. It’s 3:30 and looking pretty twilight outside right now. Only two months more til we will be back here but gaining light. 😬

Growing up, I read all 14 books in the original Oz books. The recent meme around #2 has me re-reading them, and I’m shocked at how well they hold up. Women-centered, full of strong female rulers and all-female armies (actually two, one more serious than the other). There’s some […]

Me, to ChatGPT about HRT:

- Will this reduce random crying? (Probably)
- What about evening up my cycles? (Yes)
- Will my skin itch less?(Yes)
- What about my (previously mysterious) ankle and joint pain? (Probably)
- What about the weight gain? (Won’t make me lose weight but should stop the […]

Ok, I gave up on The Ministry of Time, but did finish “They Were Her Property,” a fantastic if hard book to read. I’ve always loved the genre of “if we look at history looking for women, turns out we find them everywhere, doing significant things!” This book is that, except the significant thing […]

Considering abandoning “The Ministry of Time”, despite being almost done. I was sucked in by time travel but it appears to be a ponderous book club type thing where the time travel almost feels … incidental as a set up for the plot. I dunno, feels silly to give up with only 200 phone screen […]

I much prefer targeted boycott pauses than generic "don't buy here ever" statements, just because they seem much more achievable and easier to see if they worked -- this is for Target, Amazon, and Home Depot for this week:

As I’m nomming my way through Brigands & Breadknives and enjoying it on the “new” Kindle 4, one thing I note is that while the Amazon software still works well, this is definitely it in its earliest forms. Which is fine, I don’t need a dozen settings.

One thing I really notice is no clock […]

I don’t go to concerts. Too much sensory stuff, usually.

The one notable exception: Over the Rhine. Love them. Don’t need earplugs to hear them live. They’re funny, sweet, and have beautiful voices. I truly don’t understand how they never launched to be more of […]
