Outstanding failure of journalism by the Times: cold-mailing "Bill DeBlasio" and failing to check that it was the *correct* Bill de Blasio. This story also gets bonus marks for "interview conducted through Ring doorbell" www.semafor.com/article/10/2...

I am enjoying our book club. The actual books, not so much, although the trend is improving.

I would absolutely watch this show.
ANDOR creator Tony Gilroy likes the idea of a Kleya and Vel ‘Nazi hunters’ spin-off series in which the duo hunt after former Imperials following the fall of the Empire with the assistance of Dedra Meero in a Hannibal Lector-esque role.

In which we launch a series with the single games novel I already owned, which turned out to be terrible. Fun episode though.
New for Patreons: the first episode of Text Adventure, our videogame book club! @brendyc.bsky.social joins us to discuss Assassin's Creed Brotherhood by Oliver Bowden, which turns out to be bad in an extremely videogames way. Listen on Patreon now: www.patreon.com/posts/text-a...

Big news from the old country. I'm excited for them. Rich was never short of ideas and that brand has a peerless reputation, I look forward to seeing where they take it.

I went to an offsite in... 2010, maybe, at which a speaker from a financial firm stated with absolute certainty the state pension age would be 72 by the time most of us retired. Bleak.

This was fun. I now have a slightly deeper understanding of the fact that in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, and also the loungehammer music is still stuck in my head a month later.

Wild data point I heard last week: previous government knew nothing about games. Jeremy Hunt needed to have *FIFA* explained to him. Current administration much savvier, apparently.
My column this week: how if you want to understand the forces shaping politics, both at an electoral and ideological level, you have to understand videogames:
If you don’t understand Nintendo Switch 2, you won’t understand the modern world
No savvy politician can get away with treating gaming as if it were a passing fad
