B just saved our welcome mat from an all expenses paid trip to Kansas 😬

We finished writing cards at 11:10 pm, Madonna bless us every one!

Anyhow, now we write cards and pack up gifts for out-of-state people. EVERYTHING ships tomorrow and then I can be mostly done with the unpaid part-time job that is Christmas

Also (and I am fortunately fine) someone on my extended team got laid off today due to business slowdown. 1) I wish we could share our work with them but I guess it doesn’t work that way and 2) Whyyyyyy must employers do that at this time of year.

Worked 8-5:30, barely got up from my desk because of year-end task madness, walked out of the office into the Fully Dark Night, and went directly to finish my gift shopping.

I hasten to add that one of this group was my friend's mom who looked like Mink Stole and was 100% less fun.

Without spoiling, the Martha character is super real. Her equivalent in my (slightly larger) hometown parish was a core of 4-5 people that did everything, one of them actually paid and the rest volunteers that were deliriously overworked. Rian Johnson knows his US Catholics. 🤯
