$5300 to replace the stupid fucking computer that controls the brake system in my car. I am going to become Ted Kaczynski

Love spending $100 round trip to get to and from campus while my car is in the shop. It’s 14 total miles and, I kid you not, 4 total turns. It would take ~70-90 minutes to get there by bus because the SGV hates public transportation

When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Cool apparently despite being quoted for $780 on the phone (with my VIN so they should have known what model we’re working with), our car actually has some integrated 12v battery pack bullshit that costs $5000 to replace. Jail for auto execs

I want to know what the hell happened in football that suddenly at least one person is getting spit on a week

Found out my 12v battery was dying when I attempted to drive to work this morning and had literally every dash light on and the ABS/traction control didn’t work. Did not know that hybrids hide the battery from you so I’ve been chasing an immediate appointment all over town and I want to die

Really cannot overstate how much I hate being a professor in the age of LLMs. And I’m “lucky” to be teaching doctoral students. I really cannot even imagine what I would be seeing if I was teaching large(r) sections/undergrads
AI in higher education is very simple: the neoliberal demands of the marketplace require institutions to do the song and dance, and it is left to professors to try to mitigate the damage as the only actors who care about actual student learning.
This may be the best thing ive read yet on AI in higher ed, and its written by a Yale undergrad. Highly recommend.

I for one am shocked that the QB that Jim Harbaugh refused to allow to throw the ball despite also having an active cheating advantage might not be all that good

My childhood friend got arrested and perp walked wearing a “BAD THEOLOGY KILLS” shirt. The picture goes so hard, but even by the standards of the death of subtext era it’s a bit on the nose

I would just like to note that a relatively popular account stated extremely confidently that Grijalva would "never be seated" like literally like 2 days ago. Being angry and scared is making people stupid

Really locking in on shitty Ohio towns this week, eh? My parents lived here from ~2012-2018. I lived there for 3 months in 2013, working third shift at a Thirty-One Gifts factory while I waited for my PhD program to start in August. Not a recommended lifestyle

There are literally hundreds of local Democratic Party organizations across the country that will willingly give leadership roles to any new blood that asks for it
at this point it feels more achievable to build something new rather than try to fundamentally change the democratic party
