DJ@BFF.fm. AKA Cronch Amp. Musician/Producer. Digital artist. Writer. AuDHD. I do a lot with very little.
Pinned
I should promote some of the things I do here, shouldn’t I?

I make music under the name Cronch Amp. It’s very moody and mostly modular synth. I get a lot of joy from making it.
My day feels stacked! The library, parcel collection, pharmacy, reading watching, making a radio show. I’m on it, dudes.

Making music is one of the greatest joys on my life. When everything works and it leads to a finished track. It always feels like magic.
"It takes a lot of time
It takes a lot of practice
You need to be really good at your instrument
I think majority of the people that make music don't enjoy making it"

He's dead wrong on this btw

Yeah, so I showed this to my younger brother and sister when they were 8 and 6. Whoops.
My hottest take about this movie is you shouldn’t show it to a child until they are about 11
Chihiro from SPIRITED AWAY is the most millennial-coded character in fiction:

- forced to beg in order to get worst job in the entire universe
- incompetent at work due to being coddled by pig boomer parents
- immediately starts dating her manager
- quits after two days to move back home

I haven’t listened to Aja by Steely Dan for a while. Really love the new remaster, especially because they ensured the correct tape speeds. Everything has a little more crack and umph. Beautiful.

Got three books on the go right now. Tinker, Tailor… by John Le Carré, Fool’s Assassin by Robin Hobb and Rose Madder by Stephen King. FA is easily getting all my attention though. Read 50% over the last four days.

I realise I’ve been ridiculously quiet here. Juggling a few fun projects (which I’m going to start talking about on here). My last book update was Sword Of Kaigen. I’ve read 14 books since then. I’ll bring it all up-to-date 🤘

You good?

Happy 808 day to those that celebrate. Anyone making some noise with one today?

Stephen Kinnock is lying. People don't lose PIP when they get a job, its not an out of work benefit & plenty of people on PIP work

Kinnock knows this. What he's doing is part of a wider govt strategy to paint disabled people as shirkers & scroungers stealing from working people

This is a very strong contender for my favourite of 2025. Jazzy. Kosmiche. The kind of pure, playful magic that feels intoxicating and moreish. Get to it!

The amount of pure joy I’m getting from this record is enough to make me levitate. A stellar Sunday soundtrack.

Anyone got some hot new music recommendations from today’s new releases? I’m especially interested in Jazz, experimental/interesting electronic music, non-Western releases.

It’s Friday night here at the fortress of solitude. I’m in front of a microphone, getting my radio show together. Plenty of bangers lined up. Let’s go!

Check out my older shows before this is live tomorrow?

Finished Sword Of Kaigen. My last book for May. It was a bumpy ride for me. The middle of this book was phenomenal by either side of it felt like different books. I’d love to read more of this world though. This very much felt like an appetiser.

Approaching my first listen through of this record. It’s just under two hours long. I thought, “There’s no way it’s all good,” as I hit play. I was wrong. It’s banger after banger.

Finished Memories Of Ice by Steven Erickson today. I had to seek out chapter summaries but I was glad I did. Really opened the world/story for me. Also the first book I’ve completed while reading/listening. There’s no going back on immersion reading for me now.

I’m in the final section of Memories Of Ice by Steven Erickson. Had to hit up some online resources to get everything straight in my head. There’s so many moving pieces, felt so confused! Much clearer now though. I’m expecting a climatic end.

Also picked up some books: Malazan books 7 & 8, Fitz & Fool Trilogy, some early 2000 Stephen King books. I’ve got a lot of reading ahead of me haha.

I’m reading Sword Of Kaigen and I just had an amazing hour with the first battle scene. It was a real slow start but the two chapters I’ve just read really blew me away. So much fun!

Sometimes I like to muse on how in the UK we instinctively understand the nuanced differences between, for example, a prat, a prick, a twat, a cunt etc. You could plot them on a graph. What would the axes be? Harmfulness? Mildness/Severity? Warmth/cold?
