The central & most important aspect of John Roberts’s jurisprudence is republicans must be allowed to do whatever they want *until* trial appeal and final scotus review admit they’re illegal. Democrats’ actions cannot be allowed UNTIL that same review says they’re legal

It’s not hyperbole to say that Ilhan Omar would have done far less damage to the US economy than Trump.

Trump’s economic policy (tariffs, mass layoffs of government workers, and deportations, coupled with huge tax cuts) are going to hurt, and fast, but given what we’ve seen from his supporters I expect to hear “real Trumpism was never even tried” 20 years from now when this is all discredited

Tough language from JPMorgan tonight:

“.. we view the full implementation of these policies as a substantial macro economic shock not currently incorporated in our forecasts. .. these policies, if sustained, would likely push the US and global economy into recession this year.”

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

the full impact of CIPAC's termination is still being determined. no one seems to know why DHS terminated it, and regularly scheduled cross-sector coordination calls are still happening unimpeded, an industry source told me.

Travel to the US is expected to slide by 5%, contributing to a $64 billion shortfall for the travel industry, according to Tourism Economics which had originally forecast a 9% increase in foreign travel, but revised its estimate to reflect “polarizing Trump Administration policies and rhetoric.”
International travelers concerned about President Donald Trump’s trade policies and bellicose rhetoric have been canceling trips to the United States, depriving the U.S. tourism industry of billions of dollars at a time when the economy has started to appear wobbly.
