For whatever reason, these people now think it’s expedient to abandon Trump. Questions are 1) will it last? I kinda doubt it, but who knows. 2) will they conceivably coalesce around someone/something else?

To be clear, these people were fine with the atrocities and cruelties, but draw the line at mean comments directed at them or one of their own. When/if this is over, there should be a steep social price to pay, or maybe they should not be allowed back into polite society at all.

I’m not a college professor, so it’s easy for me to say this, but I think Blue Book essays and oral, in-person exams are the only way around this.
