Behavioral ecologist who likes tracking, cameras, and photography. 📸

Postdoc in Green lab @ Brown Uni.
PhD: Mixed-species groups, Laskowski lab @ UC Davis.
M.Sc: Gomulkiewicz & Watts lab @ WSU Pullman.
Also makes me wonder what freshly graduated phds are thinking. A few of us at Brown discuss whether to make the jump to the academic job market or pivot to industry. 🤔
That's quite the chart annotation.

Insanely cool paper. Ive been thinking about transitioning to YOLO (it is more commonly used in industry).

Serra-Marin power RPI 4 computers outdoors and mount them like regular cameras on tripods to detect bees in the wild. WOW!

RPIs and Tracking? Two of my favorite things.

Our new paper offers an explanation for the universal law that "under carefully controlled conditions.... an animal behaves as it damn well pleases." We explore how stochastic mechanisms may play an underappreciated role in generating individuality. (1/7 🧵)

I have a pal who is applying to the NSF GRFP and is wondering if using language about 'climate change', 'ecology' , 'evolution' might hinder his chances given the current admin climate. Any thoughts? Should he reframe his work to not use those words specifically?
