It... might be joever ;o; I don't think I got substantial time to fully finish the level design, sprites, and make proper menus and game sequences that "end" the game, the sound system for sfx is working but, I got a final I HAVE to pass tomorrow... I wish I had more time ;;

Why is this so ominous 💀 Anyhoo, progress has been a biiit slow but things are looking good!

OKAY, group project is done so now it's time to LOCK IN
I still need to complete the level design, make menus and a proper end sequence, AND have everything look good, but I just found a really good low-poly city I can use and I KNOW what I wanna do, wish me luck 😭

WELP, HERE WE GO AGAIN

With a measuring cup of Boba and a scuffed setup in my living room as to not wake up my roommate, gonna be working on my Pechakucha and project tonight :,D mainly need to add audio and some visuals, and then make a quick test level, WISH ME LUCK

Been making pretty good progress with the mechanics for Huckster! I was originally going to avoid having a directional kick and have it be more based around moving the character into the Vending Machine, but it didn't feel right if I didn't have both! #SmallGameStudio

Okay SO, I made progress on Huckster!

I was FINALLY able to make a 2D controller I was satisfied with (minus a ground checker) aaand I got a gist for how to apply AddForce and AddTorque when colliding with an object! Just need to flesh out how to properly "direct" such forces haha

I'm happy to report I was able to figure something :>

I decided to make something similar to Pac-land, and have it be a game based around the previous post I did: stop comparing yourself and your abilities to others, take things at your own pace and you'll make it eventually~

To really make the performance hit hard (and to bring together the VGO and Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan collab even more), I'm animating a whole "fight sequence" between Don Wada and Sans, and had to pull up a reference to make actions/movement feel punchier XD [2/3]
May 11, 2025 at 7:52 AM
In other news, I've been working on video editing for the Video Game Orchestra Concert! Since we're doing a collab with the taiko club (playing Megalovania), I'm getting "fancy" and figured out how to mod the Sans fight to feature Don Wada from the taiko game! The funniest part is that... [1/3]

Well... I, in fact, made a thing

Phototaxis is meant to be a reflection on the end of a relationship. Whether good or bad or platonic or romantic, the end of a relationship you cherish is never pretty. But while your feelings stay stagnant, everything keeps moving forward.

OKAY WE'RE SO BACK

Not the same game I wanted to do, but after reworking some stuff I have a working system that will still achieve the same effect! I'm gonna at LEAST get the bare bones of the project submitted, but I WANT THIS TO BE A PROJECT I'M PROUD OF

I've made multiple scripts to try to organize different aspects of the game.l. However, something has gone WONKY with trying to reference one of the script's functions and is driving me INSANE! I've had to kneel before the gods of ChatGPT for suggestions which I hate but so tired..

Yesterday I got started on figuring out what to do for my project! I decided to take a more personal/reflective approach to the story and thought it would be fun to do!... however, the code has been an absolute pain to figure out.

Out of all the games in the arcade, The Barnacle Goose Experiment was the most surreal. It had a very windowed/hyper-mediate format, which, although confusing at first, started to make sense as you combined items and spat until your body died, letting you combine dreams.

You Are Jeff Bezos

Is there anything else that needs to be said? You FINALLY get to take over Jeff Bezos' life and spend his stupid money that he's been sitting on like a dragon to a pile of gold. Increase the wages of your workers. Support the poor. HAVE FUN SPENDING MONEY

Nectar Thief isn't anything crazy, and it's not trying to be!
Navigating and entering different rooms to then be greeted with a mysterious and atmospheric language was quite enjoyable.

Nothing beats playing a "tycoon" game about the manufacturing and selling of paperclips~ Despite the simple visuals, it was still quite the fun experience!

The first game I played was "Colossal Game Adventure" and it was quite an interesting take on an adventure game, which although it was strict in the way you had to navigate the game, the aesthetic of being on an older computer with the slightly glowing text was neat!

Figured out how to color and change the size of my text for 2.1! It's nothing fancy (and probably not useful for project 2.2), but it helps visually see all the text, especially against the dark blue background!

Pro Tip: Showering will either answer your code troubles or lead you down the right path.

I realized to get it so that my code wouldn't constantly role and add a number every time, I just needed to keep doing what I was doing and make more bools! Now it's a fully replayable game!

April 21, 2025 at 8:53 PM
That said, there were silly mistakes in my approach to the code that I want to go back and fix. I wanted to make it so that you could replay the game and accumulate cash over each attempt, but since I slapped everything into Update(), it hasn't exactly been successful.

As a Computer Science major who hates coding... coding for a small game without worrying about organizing the code in the most optimal way was really fun! It felt like solving a sort of puzzle (in this case, a "reaction" minigame), and was really satisfying!

I definitely learned the lesson of designing the level first before decorating haha... I forgot that depending on the mesh and terrain players could just climb up walls, sooo currently in the process of adding invisible walls! Can't wait to actually make things pretty lol

Okay so,originally I was going for a bigger "level design" where you'd jump between rocky structures in a giant cave to reach the end, however after adding more story elements to the level, I kinda wanna change gears with what I'm doing to match the cramped space I'm creating!

Been messing around with the terrain tool, and it's really cool!

Found a couple of different assets that I want to use for a "mystical" forest, but some of the models weren't able to import. Other than that, REALLY excited to start mapping out Project 1!
