There are lefty fountain pens available for folks who need one (I think Lamy is an inexpensive option) and also for different grips Sailor has their Tuzu pen which allows you to rotate the grip to fit your needs.

You’re amazing and I appreciate you!! Both this response and your art I mean.

That’s a very cool Lamy color! What is it called?

I got my first Conklin a few weeks ago thanks to their Sidewalk Sale! I love any excuse to get a stub nib.

I have the same one and absolutely adore it. Enjoy writing!

Right?! We ended up liking it so much we got a second one 😆

Jinhao also makes a less expensive retractable fountain pen and they come in excellent colors.
If you need a pen because you’re a lefty Lamy has accessible options. Or if you’re like my partner and have a unique grip Sailor has a model: www.jetpens.com/Sailor-TUZU-...

I adore my J. Herbin Violette Pensée. It’s a purple blue but if you don’t like it bluer you can get Hongdian’s Purple which is a purple with a hint of red-brown. Both are shown in order on a Rhodia notepad.

I got a medium nib at Atlas because that’s all they had left but I prefer larger size nibs anyway. Thanks to the fountain community for suggesting a step up in quality pens, Esterbrook knows their stuff and the little face on the nib is so cute!

You can buy cleaner but I would definitely say I’ve cleaned my pens fully using warm water and some patience. If you absolutely need a cleaning solution in a rush then a drop of dish detergent in a glass of water will work as well. Just be careful of the surfactants in the soap

The suggestion to get a sonic cleaner is excellent as it will help with long term pen use and/or clearing shimmery or pigment-based inks.
For a clear walkthrough I recommend JetPens’s walkthrough www.jetpens.com/blog/How-to-...

If you’re unsure how dedicated you’d be to using one, Jinhao’s is excellent. It was my first experience with fountain pens and an easy way to figure out if you’re comfortable with the grip.

Valid and I appreciate the recommendations!

ooooo the Sea & Sky looks outstanding!! I just bought Wearingeul’s Captain Hook and I love the dark red that comes out. I need a pen that can appreciate a shimmer ink without too much clogging, been unsuccessful so far with a Lamy al-star medium and a FPR ultra flex nib.

lol it’s not basic at all! It’s more that I get grumpy at the general lack of color as the cost of the pen gets higher. My current fave is the TWSBI Vac700R in Iris with stub nib and has a sheening ink that’s close to the bi flag :D

Nooooo 😢, it sucks and I hear you. May you find peace in a future pen!

Girl, how’d you know. My sparkling Monteverde Invincia has an omniflex nib and I regret it every day.

Agreed! Love my “Black Purple” Al-star and replacing the nib was fun and easy. It’s my tester for every ink.

Life notebooks from Japan is a reasonable choice price-wise instead of moleskine.
