I’d rather they concentrated on getting the indigenous population to speak English to a high standard (which is never going to happen) before they worry about the linguistic strengths of those who have moved here.

The outside staircase on the stand in #1 strongly suggests Thirsk but I’ll have a stab at Liverpool.
And I’ll venture Newmarket July for #2.
The closed courses are clearly Phoenix Park & Stockton, but I’m only saying that from answers already given.

Two things I don’t understand:

(1) I’d regard being in a hole financially as losing money, not running at a profit of £12 million pa, albeit that it used to be bigger than that.

(2) JC says all profits are re-invested in racing. So where is the £12 million going?
