Vaguely. Were you one of them?

84/85 I was on my last year at school, just round the corner by the roundabout.

Also back then there were about 15 pubs with the same square 400 yards or so. Each of them with landlords and landladies with stories about the Krays drinking in their pubs!

This pic is the bottom of my street in Hoxton in 1977, most of the buildings were demolished about 1980/81. The end of the same street behind the camera is the Eagle pub from Pop Goes The Weasel.

Im from Hoxton! We still had Victorian tenements at the bottom of my street into the early 80s

I grew up round there. Lots of the pubs at lunchtime had strippers. What college? Not City And East down Pitfield St? I did my a-levels there back in the 80s.

And London's population was in decline 70 years ago to reach the lowest point of the 20th Century in the 80s after peaking for the 20th in the 1930s. People can't imagine how empty Central London was after 5pm.

I was born in the East End nearly 60 years ago now. And I always tell people how rotten a lot of London was, dirty, run down, still scarred from WW2. So many areas people think of as posh or wealthy were filled with squats and derelict properties.

Ha I got 65. But my choices look like end of year music polls from 1980 with The Jam at the top of each list.

Yes!

Haha I had the exact same thought! My son doing a-levels currently was born the week that came out!

Some of the books were edited from previous books even with selected changes.

People in your responses mention both the rainbow magic and beast quest books and I know somebody that worked for the publishing house. Some of the writers for those were the inhouse editors and they had a crib sheet of style items that had to be followed - language, catchphrases etc.

And yet not the worst of the women, as you will see later...
