Grumpy dad. Music food and grump.
Currently going through a Prince obsession. Last time it was this bad was in 2014 when I listened to literally nothing but Prince for 4 months.

Bit obsessed with this, French, cool guitars and a great shiny garage feel.

Not sure what I think about this song. But can't stop listening. Reminds me of Prefab Sprout. Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp and Mari Wilson's Beat The Beat.

The shifting time signatures make me feel queasy.

Early morning burst of amphetamines on the train. Musically speaking.

One of Madness' best songs, Africa from the Norton Folgate album. So gorgeous.

Baxter Dury last night Bristol was grand. Although 1st half seemed to be mostly electro jams while Dury pulls shapes at the front of the stage. 2nd was amazing.

Support was Joshua Idehen who was brilliant, perhaps a better performance than Dury. This is his best tune so far

Some beautiful late night music, including the marvellous Danny Thompson on bass.

The Leonard And Hungry Paul adaption is nice tv. Quite Wes Anderson and Jean-Pierre Jeunet stylistically.

Tune of the day, one of the tunes off my first Northern Soul compilation Kent's On The Soul Side. Still love it to this day.

One of my favourite Blondie tunes. And god Debbie looked amazing on the sleeve.

Oh yes.

There are some songs I love that I can't remember never not knowing, Duke Of Earl is one of them, apparently I used to turn it up on the radio when I was 4 or 5, and if it ever comes on anywhere I have to listen to it. It still sounds otherworldly, and nothing else quite sounds like it.

Think this is going to be tune of the day though. Class.

My best mate's mum had the original single of this from when she was a teenager, I taped it and played it to death summer 1983. Still one of my fave Motown tunes.

Oh this sparked an outburst of seat dancing on my train journey today.

Ah the breakdown in this is gorgeous

When Smokey sings indeed...

How does this always sound amazing and fresh as a daisy? Possibly the soul tune I've heard most in my life.
October 7, 2025 at 7:25 AM
Possibly the most Mod tune of the day. Homework by Otis Rush.

So You're Leaving by Al Green, one of my favourite tracks on possibly my all time favourite soul album. But the track itself doesn't become a fave until the fade when they hit the Who Do You Love refrain. Never wanted a song to carry on longer ever.

Already been travelling since 615. And still the sun's not up. I do have beautiful music in my ears though.

Fake Music BR do it again. I am absolutely obsessed with this AI created stuff. Its both extremely worrying and oddly exciting that this sort of thing is possible. This is Thats Entertainment repainted as a vintage Northern Soul tune.
