I’ll still drive to a GO station and I’ll try park and riding at the end of Line 2 next time I go to Ottawa (since I can just get off at Bayview and do a bit of walking to go where I need to). But VIA? Forget it. Not only is it way more expensive than those other options, it’s just…bad

Kingston Station is a dump. Both trains ended up being an hour late. Perhaps it’s because I’m tall but the seats on the new VIA trains were not comfortable. And it didn’t help that I had to finish and start the two trips on Ottawa transit which is hot garbage.

I need to confirm this is legit because I’ve never seen this before. But apparently this is a CN ticket office on Soarks Street in Ottawa sometime in the 1960’s. I want this to be real because…well…just look at it!

Put the burden of proof of everyone wrapped up in this. You had a connection with Epstein? Prove it wasn’t nefarious. It’s clear everyone knew he was running a pedophile trafficking ring. Prove you were just a garbage person who turned a blind eye and not someone that should go feet first…

I’ve been trying to avoid all the nonsense with her. But after looking into it all a bit my feeling is there is a good chance she actually knew (to some degree) there was a cover up and she is freaking out because she could eventually be outed in the future. Why else would you crash so hard

I’m pretty sure I had all 4 of them on a mix CD at one point lol

And you don’t even have to reinvent the wheel. The labour movement knows how to do it (thinking of CUPE and the AC flight attendants in particular). And indigenous social justice movements are perhaps an even better template to build off of. A motivated party could organize rapidly if it wanted to

I have the MAGAsphere pretty well blocked on here. But I have noticed yankee centrists getting increasingly hostile, especially after Harris tanked in the election. They really don’t grasp how much influence they have outside their country and how much people absolutely despise and hate that reality
November 10, 2025 at 5:24 PM
That is true. And they need to get young people involved in that process today. I know its tough to find bright, young, energetic people who’d want be leaders in the party when it’s in complete shambles. But if they can get past that hurdle (and fast) at least that gives them *something* to build on

And as has been pointed out, stop trying imitate the latest Yankee leftist. Canada and it’s politics aren’t the same as the US and the kind of soc dem populists that are going to play well in Canada are more likely to be a hot, charismatic, suburban, curling mom from Laval, not Mamdani or AOC clones

If the @ndp.ca want to be serious about fixing their youth problem the first thing they need to do is try to recruit people like Rachel Gilmore or Paris Marx and put them in public facing, high ranking positions. You aren’t going to attract young people with olds. You need genuine millennial energy

If you spent 30 years as a cashier you deserve the right to be a nasty old bitch anytime you want.

A lot of people voted for him because they wanted more Trump cheques. It might not get him Latino support back since they are still being rounded up by fascist secret police and it turns out they aren’t keen on that. But there are still other demographics this could give a sizeable boost too

That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t continue to push back against lowering climate targets. But when you look at the growing global transition away from oil underway, and the speed it’s starting to move at, it’s hard to see how oil and gas in Canada doesn’t face the music in the very near future
November 10, 2025 at 1:20 PM
And I know this may come across as cope. But one reason I’m not too panicked by potential changes to Canada’s climate goals is because petrostates like Alberta and Saskatchewan are likely to face a much less optimistic reality for oil and gas in just a few years time.

Exactly. What matters to young people… Housing? They have no plan or vision. Jobs? They have zero grasp of the moment we are in. UBI? The GPC made it part of their platform. They’ve been less aggressive on transit and intercity rail than the Liberals. Not hard to see why they are losing young people
