I’ve seen that before - at the opticians?

Magnificent photo, great find!

But how random is the scene with that flag? 🤣

Great to hear your interest. Sandwiched between Arnhem/The Bulge and the invasion of Germany, VERITABLE has been largely overlooked. But such a complex and hard operation. I’ve visited several times and cannot imagine fighting through the likes of the Reichswald or the Hochwald.

Absolutely, here is his group—very impressive DSO & Bar.

Ironically, I first came across him while researching a battlefield study of Op VERITABLE. His book 'Rhineland' is an excellent overview of this often overlooked, slogging campaign (during which he was CO RHLI).

Looks interesting - mutiny of the zombies?

Another interesting and informative episode, great work!

On a minor note, I always wondered why discussions on Canadian defence and security never bring in Australian experiences. Missed opportunity to compare/contrast with a country in remarkably similar situations (location excepted, ofc).

A good analysis of the organisation's problems. Particularly highlighting the part played by organisational and management cultures.

A superb historian of Canada’s past. Taken too soon.

Always a great listen!

I came across this several years ago when reading old Legislature Hansard. Took me a minute to understand! Premier is a contraction of PM.

Shameful. But prepare for the 11th time?

“But why did the U.K. agree to pay a banana republic for the privilege of giving it territory?”

👆Great question, as if U.K. politicians have no concept of national interest (or a warped version).

Excellent article. The reality of geo-political and economic rivalry cannot be ignored even if an important business partner.

A very interesting talk, I especially liked posing 'what ifs' in the context of Canadian history.
