I am much obliged, Forrest! I think I have only scraped the surface of an interesting topic.

Went through a small English town many years ago. Its central church has a clock on its tower, but Alcester is different as the clock face is at an angle, to face down the High Street.
Additionally, the outline of a Roman fort can be found in the Waitrose supermarket's carpark/parking lot. #England

Absolutely, here is his group—very impressive DSO & Bar.

Ironically, I first came across him while researching a battlefield study of Op VERITABLE. His book 'Rhineland' is an excellent overview of this often overlooked, slogging campaign (during which he was CO RHLI).

On a recent visit to a Hamilton museum, I found a memorial to one of the few RHLI officers who escaped the Dieppe landings. Interestingly showing a rare mid-20th-century Canadian Army battle flag. I think this is the first 'real' one I have seen. @forrestpass.bsky.social @otdmilhistory.bsky.social

Recovering from an awesome Scottish wedding in the Highlands.

What a ceilidh - sorry for the sore toes on the dance floor ladies 🤣 - and too much good whiskey! #Scotland

On visiting used bookstores, I always keep a weather eye for the Coles Canadiana Collection. Some real gems to be found.

Great interview! BC has a great flag, though I understand some suggested repurposing the centennial flag. 😬

Not as enlightening as your first interview but entertaining.

Surprised no one brought up Richard Rohmer’s 1970s novels on the US invasion of Canada. Similarly, entertaining if not very credible. I’ve heard it mentioned that greater threat to Canada from US, is the offer of citizenship.

At varying stages, internal weakness across most Western industrial economies is apparent. AfD in Germany and Rassemblement national in France are going from strength to strength.

Shockingly, 12 months after its landslide UK Labour 12 pts behind party that has existed for only a few coffee breaks.

Interesting thread…but there is more to the #CanadianFlag

This is the flag Prime Minister Pearson chose and the Liberals supported in the flag committee. The Progressive Conservatives opposed it and, the #RedEnsign having been eliminated, they chose to support the single Maple Leaf instead. 1/

Published 76 years ago, and I first read it in January 1984; great story.

Flags of the British Overseas Territories in Parliament Square. Quite an eclectic combination of blue, white, red and wavy blue & white ensign designs. And Gibraltar’s key!

Members of the Chagossian community pro outside the UK Foreign Office to ensure their voices cannot be ignored any longer.

A very attractive flag.

Today is the 60th anniversary of the Ontario flag, which was brought forth by the then Prime Minister of Ontario, John Robarts.
