1 of my GIS Profs started class with "Well, the fed roles you were probably counting on applying to when you finish are gone and not coming back, but here's an internship to map Pikes Peak this summer for $15/hr"
Should I be scrambling to reorient my schooling? is there a future in #GIS in the US?

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..."

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Maybe someday I will make maps as pretty as this.

#pollution from the Po river valley in #Italy today extends into the Adriatic sea.
While there has been #dust clouds from Libya lately, the pollution signatures are clear in the satellite derived Angstrom Exponent, a proxy for aerosol type (typically pollution has high values, blue colors)

Session 1: after defeating the guards outside the cave last session, the party pushed into Cragmaw Hideout. The rogue was too badly injured to continue (the player withdrew from the campaign). The dice gods did not bless the party and they had to withdraw to Phandalin or be destroyed by Klarg!

Colorado Springs will break 1 Million residents in the near future, and rec spaces will need to adapt away from requiring folks who recreate to drive and park to reach them. Another weight on the scale in favor of more robust public transit in the Pikes Peak Region.

Session 0 was a success! The party departed Neverwinter for Phandalin and ran into some trouble on the way!
I also sheepishly realized my minis deserve better storage than they've been getting since being painted.

Entering my "join the community association" era. There are 600 homes in my neighborhood, and I want everyone who lives here to enjoy the benefits of a tight-knit, place-based community. My first proposal: hand tool refurbishing clinic for gardeners. Sandpaper, linseed oil, files and rags.

To what lengths will academics and activists have to go in the coming administration to preserve the efforts of the past and protect the efforts of the present?

When social networks and institutions are compromised, how do we keep from being reduced to "sending a runner" with a handwritten note?
