A core part of modern far-left political beliefs in the West, really just is an unconditional and servile worship of the most horrific regimes in the world. Assad? Khamenei? Yeah, sure! As long as you claim to be "anti-West" you are good, apparently. Disgusting.

What separates free nations from dictatorships isn’t just elections. It’s also whether the government is bound by its own laws.

The Rule of Law matters.

The Russian government, which is illegally invading Ukraine and selling grains that it stole from Ukraine, is claiming the U.S is breaking international law for illegally invading Venezuela and selling oil that it stole from Venezuela.

Biggest lesson of the week: If Trump is your ally, you will get screwed.

It's sad watching the Venezuelan opposition now realise this.

For the rest of us, especially those who support Ukraine or Taiwan, the lessons to learn here are more important than ever.

It took 2 hours and 28 minutes to fly in, arrest a guy, and fly out with no casualties. I can imagine all the Russian generals looking at this 4 years into their 3 day long special military operation.

It’s tempting to cheer what happened in Venezuela—fast, mostly bloodless, and it removed one of Latin America’s worst dictators. But illiberal victories normalize eroding the rule of law by using popular ends to justify illiberal means. Watching tankies melt down is fun; endorsing this isn’t.

Since FIFA said we must respect the world cup host country's culture in 2022 and 2018, I see no reason why they should object to Seattle's Pride match.

The Christian right’s deification of Donald Trump amounts to idolatry.

Trump’s malignantly narcissistic response to the murder of Rob Reiner reveals a deeply demonic figure: one callously indifferent to any life but his own, the antithesis of a true Christian.

My flight got cancelled so AA gave me a voucher for a taxi to a hotel to Times Square. A waste of money. According to google maps, taking the subway to and form the hotel from the airport was faster (1 hour vs 1.5 hours), and probably cheaper (subway fare was $11.40) than the taxi anyway.

The Israeli government needs a lot of international pressure, to respect some peoples' human rights. All those countries in September recognizing Palestine as a country or quitting Eurovision and doing nothing more is just an empty gesture that accomplishes nothing.
