Speaking of northern renaissance, I toured the Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow a few weeks back and saw some great shit; mostly baroque and sarmatism (so much much lapis lazuli and azurite — including a tapestry with lapis lazuli sewn into the threads!). Lookit!

The Scottish picts wore dreads, as did huge swaths of the Polish peasant class in the 1800s (sometimes as one big dread or “plait”, but just as often as several smaller dreads). Also the Scandinavian Vikings had them (often also bleached with lye). They go the way back to 1700 BC Egypt and Crete.

Just a quick note that if you actually try to cook a whole bird all at once, you’re a chump and a terrorist and a cave person and I don’t respect you or even like you very much.
Take your turkey apart. Cook the dark meat separate from the white, at different temps. Like a respectable human person.
