Presumably spends too much time lamenting a basketball team named after a dromaeosaurid.

With the Raps pick falling to #9, they should be able to slip below the tax next season.

The 39th pick could get the Shead/Mogbo special, or be signed to a two-way.

Either way, they just about have room for 2 min. contracts to round up the team and meet the required 14 rostered bodies.
Man, Masai will forever be royalty.

Still have a chance to draft either (or Maxime Raynaud).
Trade back and draft Adou Thiero + Ryan Kalkbrenner.

I don't understand the reaction to the CMB pick tbh. He wasn't at the top of my wishlist either but he's an elite defender with excellent feel on offense. If he ever figures out the shot, that's an outstanding two-way player and that's exactly what you need to win in this league.

Miles Byrd, Tahaad Pettiford and Labaron Philon all withdrew from the NBA draft. Finding good prospects deeper in the draft is going to be a real issue this year.

Aaron Gordon (injured hamstring) has as many rebounds as the entire OKC team so far.

I suspect at least one of the following 7-footers will still be on the board when the Raptors pick in the 2nd round:

- Ryan Kalkbrenner
- Maxime Reynaud
- Yanic Konan Niederhäuser
- Rocco Zikarsky
- Vladislav Goldin
Case in point, none of these guys were drafted with a top 20 pick and many were early 2nd round picks:
- Ivica Zubac
- Jarrett Allen
- Rudy Gobert
- Mitch Rob
- Isaiah Hartenstein
- Nic Claxton
- Daniel Gafford
- Walker Kessler

Couldn't think of a less deserving front office to win the Flagg sweepstakes. What a monumental farce 🤦🏽‍♂️

It's nice for Mavs fans though after what they've been through this season. Sucks that they'll have to keep enduring Nico.

I understand drafting BPA but as a general rule of thumb, I am not a big fan of using a high draft pick on a primarily defensive big --that is unless they're expected to return near all-star value pretty quick.

It's been brewing for a while now but for the record, Carter Bryant is my guy in this upcoming draft.

Glorious Canadian Election Day thread. Highly recommend.
A lot of Americans don't know this, but the winner of the Canadian election will be required live in a small cottage located in the backyard of the palace where the viceroy to the King of England lives.

The cottage just recently got a new wifi router, which was very exciting for all Canadians.

It cannot be overstated how useless MPJ is. The anti Nic Batum.

Here's to hoping Darko doesn't make the same mistake. He's already indicated that they're not going to change Ingram's shot diet, as long as the ball keeps moving.
I wrote this at the conclusion of last season. It was clear Green had begun to lose the locker and lose key players already. Especially with the way they selectively held players accountable.

At this point of the NBA season, things have largely stabilized and there is no longer any team combining a winning record with a negative point differential.

The Kings (35-36, +29) are currently the only team with a losing record AND a positive point differential.
The winning record AND negative point differential club is expanding:

_ Hawks (14-12, -61)
_ Lakers (13-12, -97)
_ Suns (13-11, -12)
_ Spurs (13-12, -39)

There are no teams with both a losing record AND a positive point differential any longer.
#Lakers (10-6, -8) join the #Suns (9-7, -39) in the club of teams with a winning record AND a negative point differential on the season.

On the flip side, #Kings (8-10, +5) and #Bucks (8-9, +4) are the only teams with both a losing record AND a positive point differential.

With the Ingram extension now official, I can see the Raptors looking to trade down in the draft if they don't get a top 3 (or possibly 5) pick. The 9th or 10th pick will give them better cap flexibility and no one's really separated themselves in that range in my eyes.
February 12, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Raptors-Rockets aka slug fest galore. Rockets score 37 points in the first half -- a new season low. Raps not much better at 42.
February 9, 2025 at 8:27 PM
The Ingram trade is whatever. I'd be more enthused if he was a better defender. But the combination of IQ, RJ and him leaves you with no reliable option at the point of attack in a starting lineup that's pretty darn expensive.

At least BI is seemingly trending in the right direction I suppose.

The Bulls have traded DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, & Alex Caruso for ...

- Josh Giddey
- Kevin Huerter
- Zach Collins
- Tre Jones
- Chris Duarte
- Two Second-Round Picks
- Rights to their OWN 2025 first-round pick

Not a single additional first-rounder was acquired. Unbelievable.

Two things that come to mind:
_ This is only going to embolden Lakers fans in making stupid trade proposals that send star players to their team for scraps.
_ Kings fans should rejoice now that the team that drafted Luka did something even worse than passing up on him in the draft.
February 2, 2025 at 9:02 AM
If that trade's real, this is unseen levels of professional malpractice.
Some Luka Doncic fun facts from last season:
- led the league with 33.9 PTS, only player to average 33/9/9 in NBA history
- made the 2nd most threes (284), only Steph made more
- 3rd in MVP voting
- 28.9 PTS in a Finals run (!!)

Players to be ranked top-50 in points, rebounds & assists per game this season:

Giannis Antetokounmpo
Nikola Jokić
Jayson Tatum
Cade Cunningham
LeBron James
RJ Barrett
Domantas Sabonis
Scottie Barnes
Alperen Sengun
Jalen Johnson

Raptors are the only team with two guys on this list!

It'll be interesting to see which path the Raptors elect to go with Davion Mitchell. He's been integral to the team's defensive resurgence and their newly-found identity on that end. But some of his advanced stats are pretty horrific:

_ 2nd to last in PER
_ Bottom 10 in WS/48
_ Bottom 15 in VORP

Interestingly, the #Suns currently have a negative point differential despite their winning record. Also, 2/3 of the teams with a negative point differential are in the East.
