Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Just a reminder as LSU plays Clemson tonight, since ESPN won't say it, Brian Kelly killed a kid when he coached at Notre Dame.

Dear Donald Trump,
You said you believe Putin wants to find a solution to the war. Did he tell you that? And you didn't say, "Well then, Vlad, get the fuck out of Ukraine."?

Won’t be long before we learn of an ICE detention center setting up in a former regional hospital

Sorry, no beds for cancer patients, we’ve got to lock up this father of three who works as a roofer.
Big win for the close the hospitals, open the camps caucus today.

Reading Edward Abbey's "The Monkey Wrench Gang" for the first time and I came across this line late in the book: "One man alone can be pretty dumb sometimes, but for real bona fide stupidity, there ain't nothin' can beat teamwork." Trump admin in a nutshell, I'd say.

Trump hates American democracy. He hates open societies. He’s jealous of Xi and Putin. He wants America to be like Russia and he’s doing everything he can to make it so.
Kseniia Petrova, a Russian scientist at Harvard Medical School, was detained at Logan Airport after returning from France and sent to an ICE detention in Louisiana, The Insider reports.

A big critic of Putin and the war in Ukraine, she may now be deported to Russia.

In the pre-Trump world of "normal" politics, all of the guys would have, at worst, been forced to resign by their president. At best, they all would be in jail awaiting trial. Instead, they'll probably be praised for their bravery to troll the previous president in encrypted messages.
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

When Trump stood next to Putin all those years ago and said he believed that murderous dictator over the US intelligence profes, it was a sickening moment. Today's verbal ambush of a democratically elected head of state of a sovereign nation was worse. We are in deep, deep trouble.

What would a TV ad promoting alternatives to driving look like? What if people who love cycling and progressive transportation reclaimed ideas like freedom, independence and even patriotism? We decided to give it a shot. Check out our new video, "America, It's Just Like Riding a Bike."

Who has standing to sue the "Department" of "Government" "Efficiency?" The states? Congress? Federal employee unions? Civil society orgs? All of the above? This has to happen now before the unelected South African co-president gets his doughy fingers on more classified government data.

Maybe I'm crazy, but when the new authoritarian leader is executing a blitzkrieg to consolidate power and demolish the pillars of our democracy, maybe the opposing party shouldn't vote for his bootlicking nominees who were selected for their blind fealty. I'm crazy, right?
16 Democratic senators recently voted to confirm the Trump-appointed Treasury Secretary who just gave Musk’s team access to a Treasury payment system that disburses trillions and holds mass quantities of personal information. Food for thought. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
