I was on Twitter for hockey gifs and socialism. Do they do that on here? If not, that's okay. I should probably get a fucking life...

pretty funny in retrospect that QAnon hinged on the idea that powerful elites at the highest levels of government were smart enough to talk in code when sending emails to each other about their despicable crimes

The question the public should be asking is *not*, how high do rent increases have to be to justify past lending decisions? The question we should be asking is, how do we ensure that the costs of building overvaluation are borne by owners and lenders rather than tenants?

Being a billionaire in the United States feels basically identical whether you have $10B or $100B, but feels very different if you can sexually harass your au pair and she can quit and get a different job vs if she is desperate to keep her job and has to put up with it because the economy is shit.
it is because they want to impoverish the country! they don’t want high end manufacturing. they want americans working subsistence wages making t shirts and clothes hangers
This is part of what’s so insane. As they talk about re-shoring and manufacturing they are actively trying to destroy an entire us manufacturing industry that already exists.

I love "auditing" the copper wire in my friend's house so I can maximize "efficiency" in my 6ers Nets game parlay
I am an accounting professor.

This is not what an audit looks like.

I’m happy to go on sabbatical to do a proper one and it would not look like what is happening now.
"AUDIT"

Newsmax is now describing what Musk is doing as an audit.

In preview of my Monday morning piece, I'm going to say a little bit about why this is so concerning. This is not some "economy" thing. Its first & foremost the possibility that our legal order is modified so the law of the land is defined by Elon Musk at Treasury

Over the coming weeks, ordinary Americans are in danger of learning a lot more about the “legal plumbing” of fiscal policy—far more than they could ever have the perverse desire to know.

I have not felt prepared to read this article today about the resignation of the Treasury's Fiscal Assistant Secretary (who was just acting Treasury Secretary) until like a half an hour ago. I finally did. Its terrifying. I'm terrified.

After an extremely overdue bath, Tsuki was ready to say "fuck today" at 6:00 PM and go to bed. For the record, she has a 6 foot standing leap. She just insists that you have to lift her up to the bed every time. #puli

It's always been my position that "We don't actually need the money. Fuck them, that's why." would be an unbeatable slogan/message for raising taxes on the rich.
People always point out that taxing the super-wealthy wouldn't actually raise all that much revenue, but it's becoming clearer that the primary benefit is just taking away their money.

I must say this as clearly as possible: if you have, in the last ten years, thought "I just don't get tech" or that you're "getting old" or "you're not technical," you are the victim - so much of the tech industry is now oriented around making you do stuff rather than doing stuff for you.
I was seriously relieved when I started listening to your podcast and realized my increasing levels of frustration with modern tech are not because I'm getting older (I'm only 40 for gods's sake!) but because everything is actively getting worse. 🫠
