This looks so familiar! Turns out, I was there exactly a month ago. I decided to bring the bull home.

I am waiting to hear an announcement from the White House that Trump is cooperating fully with DOJ prosecutors on the Epstein case in exchange for immunity.

#Evening just closing in on the streets of downtown #Toronto [CA]. Sunlight was obscured by the valley of buildings, but warmly lighting the #BellTower of the #OldCityHall at the end of the valley. I was standing in a busy intersection of traffic, but it was worth it! 20221027

#Evening on the National Mall, Washington, DC [USA], where a large stage was being set up for an event. We were walking to our parked car after a visit to the National Gallery, so: near the Capitol [East] end of the Mall, looking West. 20141109

This is probably the oldest #Evening photo I ever took. It was during the winter of my first year in college (Cornell College, Mt Vernon, IA), probably January 1975. It could get really, really cold there on the Hilltop!

For #FoodOnFriday, my photo of this "Sushi Triptych", by Washington DC [USA] area artist Lily DiBenigno (16 years old at the time), at "Artomatic 2017" (Crystal City, VA). 15 April 2017

During our week in Dublin we heard many stories of oppressive history, and a great deal of contemporary, fierce pride in culture and independence--and Guinness and Fish & Chips, of course!
Here's the informative kiosk near The Spire (which was a very useful landmark when we walked back from Trinity)

Here in Dublin, two blocks from our hotel, is the art-work/memorial known as "The Spire", 400-feet high (the tip has a light), erected as a millennium project (replacing the previous monument to Lord Nelson), here shown in two parts because it IS very #Vertical.

Did I mention that the lobby of our hotel in Dublin has an art installation in the ceiling? This is it. 18 Oct 2025

Today we're on the coach tour (that lost our reservation yesterday).
Our first stop: Kilkenny. This is its castle.

Today, I sat for a spell in the "Grand Gallery" of the National Gallery of Ireland (Gailearaí Náisiúntana héireann), Dublin, Ireland. 15 Oct 2025

We're visiting Dublin this week. For no evident reason our hotel has this horse-lamp in the lobby.

It may just be a fun sculpture here for the selfies/photo-ops, so here you go.

Final example (3/3) of still water = #Relax. This is a dock in Chestertown, Maryland [USA], on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

More in the still water = #Relax for me (example 2/3): this pond is the source for the C&O Canal, in Cumberland, Maryland [USA], in the western mountains of the state.

I guess there's something about smooth-water reflections that says #Relax to me (example 1/3). This is Loy's Station Bridge, in Thurmont, Maryland [USA] (one of 5 covered bridges in Frederick County, MD). 16 July 2017

Of all the food I've ever photographed, this #Paella surely had the largest taste-to-attractiveness ratio I've ever enjoyed.

Prepared at #Botafumeiro, #Barcelona, in the traditional manner for which they are justly famous, the flavor and texture were magnificent. 5 Nov 2024

So, anyway, in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts building, there were these floors and openings and columns that all lined up in nice ways, so here.

I am in a good mood this afternoon? Here's the very uninteresting reason.

My fav lap-device is an iPad, which has a lightning connector. The cable I'd been using had a defect: the grounding cap that curves around the free end of the connector broke off near the indents that hold the connector in,

What a sense of *almost* deja vu! I saw this related work, Glenn Ligon's "Double America" (2012) at the National Gallery of Art (Wash DC) in a show called "The Double: Identify and Difference in Art since 1900", in October 2022. It was at the entrance to the exhibition.

This lovely sculpture of "Shorthorn Bull: Bridgebank Paymaster" (1930), by Herbert Haseltine, of Red Acajou marble, is in the collection of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA [USA].

What's not evident here is the scale: the bull is about 16" long, and very heavy looking.

The last time we were at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond, VA, USA) we found a chaise longue in this gallery, sat down, and a very nice fellow Friend of Dorothy offered to take this photo of us: ta da!
