I so rarely get to say this: I have a degree in physics, and I actually DO know what a magnet is.

Trump: "Nobody Knows What A Magnet Is" [VIDEO] - Joe.My.God.
“President Xi was willing to do the railroad things—that’s magnets. Now, nobody knows what a magnet is. If you don’t have a magnet, you don’t have a car. You don’t make a computer, you don’t make, er,...

Finding "new" [ #Classical ] music.

For some years now, American classical-music radio--even those I can stream online--have seemed very tepid, very "Top 40 classics" to me, when what I really crave is hearing unfamiliar music from unfamiliar composers that is interesting and worthy...

#Evening just closing in on the streets of downtown #Toronto [CA]. Sunlight was obscured by the valley of buildings, but warmly lighting the #BellTower of the #OldCityHall at the end of the valley. I was standing in a busy intersection of traffic, but it was worth it! 20221027

This is probably the oldest #Evening photo I ever took. It was during the winter of my first year in college (Cornell College, Mt Vernon, IA), probably January 1975. It could get really, really cold there on the Hilltop!

IDk, but this sounds to me like the President has finally recognized the money-sucking nature of US health-insurance companies and is ready to scrap the entire system in favor of direct-to-user single-payer govt-financed system: Medicare for All!
Hey kids the Trump Healthcare
Plan just dropped!

Doing my bit to make the good things viral.
I'm here outside Speaker Johnson’s office because he is starving families and gutting health care to cover up the Epstein Files.

Change my mind.

To my rep @hoyer.house.gov and colleagues: do you really think the President is well and capable of fulfilling his presidential duties?
When you're a sociopath and get angry that someone else's medical emergency, just four feet away, drew focus from your gloating and you forget which lie you were on.

Here in Dublin, two blocks from our hotel, is the art-work/memorial known as "The Spire", 400-feet high (the tip has a light), erected as a millennium project (replacing the previous monument to Lord Nelson), here shown in two parts because it IS very #Vertical.

It may just be a fun sculpture here for the selfies/photo-ops, so here you go.

I was half dozing when I got this randomly from my music database. For maybe the first minute, I was convinced it was by Michael Nyman! But--no!--Henry Purcell; just off by 300 years.

Still, it's a strange but beautiful aria, beautifully performed by my favorite countertenor.

I agree. And the US is currently on a destructive fast track to find out just how much immigrants contribute to our society and GDP.
I'm sorry, but what's wrong with giving health care to immigrants? Republicans don't even want to give health care to citizens, but I don't understand the argument against keeping people who contribute billions of dollars to the economy healthy. It's also less expensive in the long run.

How to build functioning government of blue states:

"The solution doesn’t require leaving the union or violence. The anti-commandeering principle, upheld repeatedly by the Supreme Court in cases like Printz v. United States and Murphy v. NCAA, means states cannot be forced to enforce federal law."
We Need to Talk About Soft Secession
Is it legal? Is it possible? And can we afford to wait and find out?
