Some folks will very quickly project assumptions of behavior based on their bigoted lack of empathy on folks they see as opposition. They will never understand that we oppose them because we wouldn't do the hateful thing or enjoy it like they would.

It turns out that protecting hate speech did not create the conditions to protect other kinds of speech; instead, it protected hate and allowed hate movements to take over all the institutions of that might have defended the rest of us.
