The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.

The message to Democratic voters from the highest levels of party leadership and the people who still support them is clear:
"You people don't know what's good for you, but we do so stop complaining and just give us as much power as possible."
And a LOT of us are extremely tired of that message.

I say this as someone who has voting power in her local Democratic Party, not someone just criticizing from the outside: the Democratic Party is not aligned with the people and instead of aligning their strategy & platform with voters, they’re trying to beat voters over the head and drag them along

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."
That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.
