AT MIDNIGHT I’LL TAKE YOUR SOUL (1964, Marins)
On my second watch, it becomes clear to me that this is one of the greatest horror films of it’s time, or of any time, for two particular reasons

EYEBALL (1975, Lenzi)

THE BRUTALIST (Corbet, 2024)
Cinema as genuine epic, a film made in the mode of the grand tradition of spectacle and character that defined the work of David Lean and films like Metropolis or Gone with the Wind. It is a staggering work about American xenophobia and Jewish identity that hits

BURIAL GROUND (1981, Bianchi) is a bizarre hodgepodge of a film, mixing a seemingly backwards act structure and astoundingly stupid characters to deliver one of the most absurd films in the long and storied history of Italian splatter.

Involving acrobatics, Cynthia Rothrock and head smashing by way of butt. Not the finest kung fu film ever but a good schlocky way to pass an afternoon
