James Jones
@jljones0618.bsky.social
A presence inside the Beltway since the Kennedy administration. Proud stoic with varied interests in politics, art, American history, cinema, whiskey, and comedy. Living spontaneously without goals. So much to laugh at, so little time...
This must mean that @wesjohnson.bsky.social has likely announced more goals for a single player than any other arena announcer.

Going from “there are things unseen” to “and they are the divine” is quite a leap, one no rational mind should or could make.

My guess is that he stared into his bathroom mirror for hours practicing saying this until he was certain that the disingenuous tone with which he said it was fully suppressed.

TBH one of the best outcomes from Mamdani’s victory would be if it spurred an influx of young new NYPD recruits flush with pride for their city.

The NSO and WNO cannot vacate the Kennedy Center fast enough. George Mason University, Strathmore, and even Capitol One Hall should be considered viable alternatives until the KenCen is properly fumigated of all noxious odors.

I read Slaughterhouse-Five when I was 15 and it was the first time I heard an author speaking directly to me. Vonnegut cracked a door open in my brain through which I could have a personal connection with literature.

I am not directly involved in Democratic politics but my guess is that they would see this as losing a battle, not the war. Had they continued to reject cloture, how do you see this issue progressing over the next few weeks?

My money was on Eraserhead.

Shall we now look to gambling periodicals for sports journalism?

The issues may change but the reality is always the same. Shutdowns by the minority party will always fail to achieve their goals. This does not mean that they are not worth trying nor that no positives may result. Just that the primary issue(s) will remain despite it.

No one in the minority ever wants to admit to holding a losing hand during shutdowns, but losing hands they are. The only uncertainty is in how much collateral damage to the government and the nation the minority is willing to accept before coming to that realization.

On the next sunny morning, roll down your windows, open the sun roof, put on So Fine and hit the 101.

Give the man credit for favoring his quality of life over chasing either every dollar or a ring. Juan Soto chased money, Shohei Ohtani a ring. Trout didn’t chase anything but his own happiness. That’s a guaranteed win.

True, but it was in 2019.
