one of the things that really sticks out to me about being a public librarian is that some people are so grateful for simple things you help them with, but i think it’s less about the task itself and more about you giving them your time and patience that they really appreciate

Violent crime in DC has been steadily trending down for decades and fell to a multi-generational low in 2024. Every single article covering whatever the administration does this week should mention that fact and highlight the data. This is about power and control, not crime or public safety.
