The cover collage from the 11 books I read in Oct. includes 2 from favorite series; one by Julie Mulhern and one from the excellent Medieval mystery series by @candacerobb set in 1300's York. Also Josephine Baker's vignette 1949 memoir. #BookSky💙📚 #Storygraph #reading #mysteries

For #Caturday I'm posting a wild cat, this clouded leopard that I painted in acrylic some years ago. Got too carried away with the fog, but there's a whole jungle scene in the background, along with some Amboina King Parakeets flying by. #CatSky #Cats #ArtSky #nature #wildlife

For #LetterboxdFriday here are my #LastFourWatched "The Believer" has Ryan Gosling as a Jewish man who becomes a Nazi & is veering back to his heritage at the same time. Pierce Brosnan is dreamy in "I Don't Know...". Tar was somewhat disappointing, especially the first 40 minutes. #FilmSky #Movies

Outside a doctor's office on Monday, I was surprised to see many blooms & buds on the neglected rose bushes, not something I was expecting in Oct.but still a welcome sight. It's rained a lot since then, so they're probably soggy by now. #roses #flowers #fallflowers #nature

Last night, I started Josephine Baker's memoir titled "Fearless and Free". It's transcribed from interviews with a French reporter and was published in 1949, in the middle of her amazing life. #BookSky💡📚 #biographies #reading #nonfiction

For #WingedWednesday here is my drawing of a white-throated sparrow in some fall leaves. I did it about 10 years ago and wish I had varied the leaf colors more. Done in colored pencils on toned pastel paper. #Birds!🦉🪶 #art #nature #wildlife #autumnfoliage

It's World Octopus Day! This is my acrylic painting of a Mediterranean Octopus with an Ancient Greek amphora(clay jar to hold wine or liquid) that I did a few years ago. #WorldOctopusDay #nature #MarineLife #SciArt #cephalopod

A bit late with the cover collage of last month's books. "Give A Girl a Knife" is a memoir of a chef, not a murder mystery, though there are several cozy mysteries. Mary Oliver's poetry is always a balm. Plus, dinos & crayon adventures. #BookSky💙📚 #reading #mysteries #poetry

Here's a Burmese python I painted in acrylics a few years ago. The snake was drawn from life at a nature center. I was really happy with the way the picture turned out.

My #LastFourWatched "The Last Rifleman" was the best of this batch, a really moving story with some great acting by Pierce Brosnan as a 92 yr. old veteran on a journey to mark D-Day. Nurse Betty was more violent & unsettling than expected & "...Titans" was quite inspirational. #FilmSky

The cover collage(from storygraph) of the books I read in August. "Pony Confidential" was one of the best books I've read this year, "Back After This" was an entertaining rom-com & Gwendolyn Brooks's poetry packed an emotional punch. #BookSky 💙📚 #reading #mysteries #nonfiction

For #LastFourWatched here's mine, which are lesser known movies of some big stars. "...Neverland" shows Johnny Depp had the sensitive man roles locked up back in the day. "...Marilyn" was a nuanced look at an icon & 'The Bookshop" went in a different direction than anticipated. #FilmSky #letterboxd

It's #letterboxdFriday so here's my #LastFourWatched All of them good movies. "Pride & Prejudice" had fantastic cinematography, so artful. #filmsky 🍿📽️🎉

That's a pretty snake, I like the green head against the brown body, it would be great camouflage. I did a drawing of a cat-eyed snake some years ago

It's #WorldSnakeDay, so here's my pen & ink drawing of a black-tailed rattlesnake that I did a few years ago. I was pleased at how it looked when finished. It's titled "Strike Force". #SciArt #nature #reptiles #Desertwildlife #Artists

My June reads covered wider subjects & locations & historical eras. I also enjoyed the nonfiction animal themed books. #booksky💙📚 #storygraph #reading #mysteries📚⚡ #Histfic📚⏳

I did an armadillo a few years ago in pen & ink, which took much longer than expected. Lizards do take a lot of patience to get the scaly skin done right. Hope that you do try the iguana again sometime, they're intriguing with all the spikes & dewlap.

Another coral reef for #WorldOceansDay this one called "Ryulu Reeftop" featuring species common in Japanese waters, such as chromis, several butterflyfish and other kinds of fish, corals, sponges and a purple sea fan. Acrylic on canvas. #fish #SciArt #coralreefs #acrylic #wildlife

It's #WorldOceansDay so I'm posting a couple of my undersea paintings. This one is titled "Ziggurat" and has Pacific species of fish, corals, sponges & a green sea turtle hatchling. Done in acrylic. #SciArt #wildlife #fish #undersea #acrylic

Since it's #WorldOtterDay I'm posting my drawing of a sea otter that I did some years ago. Done in colored pencils on toned pastel paper, it's a little more stylized than most of my work, but was fun to do.
