Incipient OAP. Blackburn Rovers, Springsteen, Bowie, Velvets and lots more plus local and international cricket.
Lovely foggy walk with Rollo. @mickeyundertone.bsky.social paid tribute to Bryan Ferry’s 80th by opening with Editions of You, playing Street Life midway & closing with, in its entirety, These Foolish Things as we walked the misty stretch back. Perfection. I sang it in a pub years B4 karaoke

After 11 days away lots of @ralphmclean.bsky.social and @mickeyundertone.bsky.social @coldwarpod.bsky.social and Word in your ear. Four cygnets still thriving.

I seem to have stumbled on an International T20 at Stirling County Cricket Club between Scotland A and Denmark.

Loch Earn at St Filans. The Beatles stayed here en route to a Dundee gig. My soundtrack today Ralph McLean counting down the Van Morrison At 80 top 80 from 60-41. ‘These Are The Days’ & a live ‘Rave On John Donné’ particularly apt in this Caledonian setting

Sad news today that Peter Paetzold who ran the Hamburg Beatles tours has passed aged 75. Peter was a marvellous guide & we discovered we had many musical loves besides the Fabs in common. He said as we parted ‘let’s keep in touch’ which we occasionally did.

Think Blue Eyed Boy only ever got a full page the week after the Worthington Cup Final in 2002. That was the day I met Lesley again after 20 years.

I love it here on a Saturday morning with Rollo listening to Roxy Music, Sonic Youth, Siouxsie and Newport electric Bob Dylan on @mickeyundertone.bsky.social Bradley Record Show but I haven’t yet achieved this guys’s level of looking at home & relaxed

Jurie Snyman Accrington’s brilliant South African pro who made 153 not out yesterday including 13 fours and 13 sixes. He added 107 with 55 year old last man Damien Clarke. Damien’s contribution -a single! We still lost but it was very Stokes/Leachesque. Over 1,000 runs for Accy this season.

Now the MC5 on @mickeyundertone.bsky.social with ‘American Ruse’ The Detroit agit-rockers might have generally raised holy hell fire & led the White Panther movement but they couldn’t thwart the curfew impositions of Clitheroe councillors who cut their set short at the 1971 festival

At the lake listening to @mickeyundertone.bsky.social Bradley Friday night show on Saturday.4th July USA special. The unabridged Velvets’ ‘Sweet Jane’ I referenced yesterday re Malcolms Music in Chorley. For all the electric VU mayhem & clunky LR live versions did acoustic guitars ever sound better

All calm at the lake. The nesting swan has abandoned her unfertilised eggs to feasting ducks. @mickeyundertone.bsky.social Bradley reminds me it’s 15 years since Chris Sievey died. What great nights we had watching Frank Sidebottom. And now playing a song named ‘I’m never flying with RyanAir again’

Love a Thursday night at Brinscall. Night off from scoring so just a spectator. Working weekend scoring will take me to Whalley, Baxenden & Accrington

Oh my. Our sad swan princess has finally left her never-to-hatch eggs for a swim with her beau. My Saturday stroll soundtracked by @mickeyundertone.bsky.social Bradley’s Late Show from Radio Ulster on BBC Sounds. Sly, Beach Boys, Ramones, Lennon so far…beautiful

Up early and out listening to @mickeyundertone.bsky.social Bradley Late Show. First up when I resume this morning ‘Cath’ by The Bluebells, a single which really ought to have been Number One for about 19 weeks all summer in 1983 and recalled wistfully on nostalgic TV programmes since

Sad barren swan in 3rd month of futile nesting as mate does his own thing. @mickeyundertone.bsky.social plays Jonathan Rich man’s ’I’m straight’ to celebrate JR’s 74th birthday. Recorded 72 for the LP which eventually came out 76 and not included till further reissues as a bonus track! Madness
