So the BBC decided to leave some wallets lying around in Belfast to see how many were returned. All of them were, which is hardly surprising. In Belfast, it is not a lost wallet, it’s the missing piece in a social jigsaw that it is your personal responsibility to complete.

The Zelenskiy/Trump meeting went wrong when JD Vance got stuck in so aggressively. US Vice-Presidents have usually seen their job as trying to be emollient; Vance, by contrast, seemed actively to want to stir things up.

I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.

The need was so great they requisitioned civilian typewriters and created a national shortage. Typewriter repair units were seen as critical army personel.
