Mack to the Future
@jimmyrabbitte.bsky.social
Writer and noted expert for hire. Ask me about Nicolas Cage's pachinko commercials.
Spare a thought for Gibson, a very good cat. @shesaheartmaker.bsky.social has had him for nearly seventeen years and he's been in my life for eleven. My first pet of any kind. He's on his way out, but to the end he was a good boy.

Here's a @pennyarcade.bsky.social panel to use on certain Senators tonight. Go nuts!

Hey just checking in on how that's going for you:

Shout! Factory has been such a constant presence for great releases and stuff I know I'll always take a rider on. I get the feeling this is step one in Enshitiffication or--even worse--a full closure. I hope I'm wrong.

Celebrating the small wins. I'm a semi-finalist at Table Read My Screenplay! This is the first holiday movie and first outright comedy I've ever written, and it feels like I'm on the right track.

Today is Monty's birthday, and he's looking forward to treats and attention. I hope we all see the future as brightly.

Closed out June at @belcourttheatre.bsky.social to see 1999's wild experimental Nashville musical EXISTO. Coke Sams & Bruce Arntson were there to see how much we loved their Ernest-universe-adjacent piece of agitprop. Someone please get this on Bluray pronto!

All right, I did the ranking. This was impossible. I could have done a top 100 of just documentaries.

Hi yes I would like to humbly submit Times Square, featuring not just the gayest high-school romance (desperately cut by the producer to "JKJK JUST FRIENDS!!!" to no avail) but also a Tim Curry performance for the ages. Your Daughter Is One.

Thank you to @belcourttheatre.bsky.social for an amazing night! John Schuck and Keith Carradine were delightful and Thieves Like Us blew me away. Support your local theaters and go to screenings like this whenever you can!

It's a tough call for my favorite Joe Don Baker performance, but Edge of Darkness is a perfect piece of art and Darius Jedburgh is the meatiest role of basically anyone's career. Get it while it's hot!

If you could commission one fictional character to fix the current US political problems, who would it be?

Yeah it's...it's not great.

Jill Sobule was kind, generous, and supremely gracious. I was 21 and interviewing her on live television, my first hosting gig ever. She went out of her way to make this feel like the most natural thing in the world. RIP to one of the great singer-songwriters.

And now: Leo McKern to sum up all my feelings on today...

Hey, remember that scene in The Rocketeer where the rich asshole turns out to also be a foreign agent trying to steal government secrets with no accountability, so the mafia and the FBI team up to fight him and his Nazi friends?

Anyway, that was a great movie.

Shogun looks just like my boy Gibson! I hope Shogun is just as good of a cat.

The entire new Simpsons 2.5" line is remaindered at WalMart. I, for one, didn't welcome our out-of-scale-with-every-other-line overlords.
