Adorno in his lectures series "Introduction to Sociology" makes a relevant point. He writes (see below) "...if research projects were set up from a standpoint which, in terms of this division of labour, were defined as social philosophy, no money would be available for them".

January: Rose's lectures were a lovely read with great insight into the early aesthetic debates in critical theory. Re-read The Trial which was fun. Lastly, A. Schmidt flung me out of my flirtations with Althusser. I would highly recommend.
