Maritza Rivera got fewer TOTAL votes in 2023 (14K) than Dionne Foster's *margin of victory*. AMR's *margin of victory* was FOUR TIMES the total number of votes Rivera got. District elections were a bad idea that just made it way cheaper for corporate interests to buy elections

I think part of What's Going On with billionaires is that the daily friction of interacting with normal people is part of what anchors people to the real world, and once you have enough money to buy your way out of the friction you can knock down a load-bearing column propping up your sanity.

For a deep dive, read reporter Lynzy Billing's award-winning piece from 2022:

Democrats should feel free to oppose anything and everything Trump does. Their voters want and expect Dems to do so anyway. Don’t complain about distractions or hesitate. Fight back!
2 bits of data from new Economist/YouGov poll.....

13% support for cutting research funding to universities. 24% among Republicans. Polling on this continues to be catastrophic for the Rs, suggests Dems should be learning far harder into standing up for science and our universities. 1/

One of the reasons that new housings starts have tanked is that Harrell’s administration sat on the comp plan for a year.
Property owners are treading water waiting for the new zoning.
Spare me the election season rhetoric that Harrell is the right person to make housing more affordable.

It is actually nuts that even when the NYC political establishment was presented with a broad field of talented candidates w/ many ideas, in a time of generational change & anti-corruption, they STILL chose to line up behind scandal-ridden Andrew Cuomo.

It’s cowardice.
