There are women who are our colleagues who are learning they were being talked about by these freaks in real-time. There are students and postdocs who are finding out an active collaborator they don't have the power to remove from a project went to the island. What the fuck do we even do, man.

And it always seems to be a woman who fans think ruined the show, and always a woman playing a wife or a girlfriend, and always a woman who is over 30 and not conventionally fuckable in appearance. So yeah, I view these statements with considerable skepticism.

You can absolutely not like an actor or a character or both and that can prevent you from being able to enjoy a show you might otherwise like! But that's not ruining the show. It might be ruining it *for you*, but that show's still being made according to the decisions of the creator/showrunner.

Now you can put "Prodigy Dad" in your bio!

It didn't go viral or even get reskeeted, so I don't know why I'm getting replies from people who don't follow me. But I gotta nip that in the bud before a bunch of men show up to explain to me how television is made.

Well, thank you so much for sharing that compelling and detailed counter-argument. My mind is totally changed. The actress who Larry David cast & recast every season to say the lines Larry David wrote & who Larry David let direct an episode definitely ruined the show beyond Larry's control.

Lots of things can ruin a show. But an actor who is cast by the creator/showrunner & kept on for the duration of the series is delivering the character that the creator wanted. Therefore, even if you don't like the character, the actor is not ruining the show.

bodily autonomy is a fundamental human right & we should treat anyone opposed to it as advocating for slavery because that is the inevitable end result of any ideology that seeks to control humans without consent.

Wow. I looked at those replies and they are OBNOXIOUS. Yeesh.

And my secondary point is that you almost always see takes like this directed at an actress and a female character, usually one playing the wife or girlfriend. You don't often see fans saying an actor or a male character "ruined" a show.

I don't watch the show, but my point is that if you don't think a character ruined the show, it's not the fault of the actress. It's the fault of the show creator who created the character, cast the actress & wrote her lines. The actress is delivering what the creator wanted, not compromising it.
