The horrific tragedy at Brown University is the 389th mass shooting this year and the 230th gun incident on school grounds so far this year.

It’s National Pear Day!
I love pears. They’re great fresh, in tarts, and I make a lovely, delicate sorbet from them too. But I love their various shapes, the femininity of them, a natural ode to the Venus of Willendorf. Coincidence? 😊

It’s National Pear Day!

I read a post this am, someone asked a young person if they knew the song “If I Had a Hammer”. Answer? No. It’s a 60’s protest song. I 😲, esp after No Kings 2.0. Great song. So here is my favorite version. Enjoy! (And disregard the ad at the top, please).

More Poppies are the official flower of August. I play w/contrast a lot. This contrasts 2 adjacent colors, a cool red & a warm orange, mass of an area of color to blank paper, opposites on the color wheel (R & G), & leggy stems to full, rounded petals. The buds are fun.
