To Kill A Mockingbird at the Festival Theatre tonight was everything i hoped for and more. Aaron Sorkin can do very little wrong in my eyes anyway, and the book is one of my favourites, but this was absolutely breathtaking. Incredible performances all round 🥹

Sat night one of my fave comedians and one of my fave bands are both playing near my house. I've seen @jasonmanford.bsky.social and GUN loads before and I'll see them both again, and due to dealing with some big stuff just now I don't know if I'm up to going to either, but also I feel I should!

Trust Topping & Co Edinburgh to make their cookbook subscription quite the event. A handwritten envelope and greeting, wrapped in paper and string, and a beautiful looking book that I would probably never have chosen myself, delivered to my door. I can't wait to have a good read 📚❤️

Having some electrical work done in the house today so power is off. Taking the chance to read Jay Rayner's excellent Nights Out At Home. I'm on page 40 and have already been instructed to "bosh" things with a wooden spoon twice and that's now my benchmark for a happy book! @jayrayner1.bsky.social

At 10.30am on @BBCRadio4 it’s the last in this series of the Kitchen Cabinet. We’re in Walthamstow and do you know what: we’re talking about Christmas food. Yes, really. Shocking isn’t it. Hope you can listen.

I had a dream last night where I won a prize to pose questions to @ianrankin1.bsky.social. One Q was had he ever had a dream that he could remember as vividly today as when he had it (I have, about wasps and a witch 😱) and now I hope last night's dream stays with me as it was good fun!

A lovely friend gifted me a Bonne Maman advent calendar. Good conserve deserves good real bread so Sunday was a baking day. Hoping nice toast with nice jam will make Monday morning less Monday-ish ❤️

Now and again, I fancy this lovely beremeal soda bread (recipe by the splendid Jeremy Lee). Forgot there are bere flakes in the cupboard as well as beremeal and used the flakes by mistake.
Smells delicious, as usual, although I might need a toothpick after eating it! 😂

It's been snowing in the UK and the road gritters are out in force, begging the question:
Have you ever wondered where that grit actually COMES from?
The answer is more magical, beautiful and fascinating than you probably realised.

Sometimes work involves being hugged by Lionel Vinyl, sometimes it doesn't 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Great day on Sunday for the Dunfermline Christmas lights switch on. A wee rave with N-Trance, a cuddle from Stevie McCrorie, and a jig with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers 🌶 🎄

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.
