📣 Good soft-power policy is cheaper than hard-power and is a net good for the US and those they are supporting 📣
It was just a matter of time. This is just stupid if you actually care about soft power or efficiency. 🧵
I am told that DOGE showed up at the peace corps this morning. If you’re there or know details please contact me at joshtpm.99 on signal.

Mr Business conveniently ignoring the agency of the companies who chose to move their factories to those countries in the first place…
Lutnick: "What's happened to the world is the global governments have backed taking our factories away from us. I mean, there's nothing about Taiwan that they should be making semi-conductors. There's nothing about Korea that they should be making all the appliances."

2 thoughts re: this interview:

1) Anyone who has dealt with an addict (or been one) knows they lie, constantly, first to themselves (“I can quit any time, nobody knew I was drinking” etc) and then to everyone else.

2) Fame, or maybe “relevance,” is an addiction.

Whoever opposes fascism and primaries this man, I will literally go door to door for you. I'll drive my neighbors to the polls. I'll hold voter registration parties. I will be so proactive and effective in getting out the vote that it will look like a statistical anomaly.
It’s time to repeal Section 230. We must be able to take social media companies to court for addicting kids and enabling drug trafficking on their platforms.
Sen. DURBIN: Fentanyl often gets to our kids and young people through the internet.

Section 230 absolves social media companies from any responsibility. “That has got to end.”

People need to understand this: Trump did not leave office willingly the first time. If his health holds up, he will not leave office willingly this time. He is not joking about serving more than two terms.

The data at USAID's ForeignAssistance dot gov was removed over the weekend, but it seems to be back (for now). As a backup, I've uploaded the data both as static CSV files and a queryable API

This chart by @jaspar.bsky.social shows just how much of an outlier the U.S. is when it comes to per capita spending on health care. And how little bang we get for our buck.
