If Tim Houston is so concerned about democracy, he’d sit in the legislature for more than eight days, wouldn’t override decisions of Halifax regional council, would talk with reporters, and wouldn’t consider giving part of a provincial park to a private developer for a golf course.

Regular PSA that you should never scan a QR code you find in public.

Doesn't matter if it looks legit, doesn't matter who put it there: never never *ever* scan a QR code that's been posted in a public area.

It's one of the easiest vectors to place malicious software on your device.

'St. Paddy's Day' is usually preferred over 'St. Patty's Day.'

'Paddy' is the shortened form of the original Irish spelling of 'Patrick,' which is 'Pádraig.'

Subscribe to @halifaxexaminer.ca. We have lots of excellent coverage and commentary on various issues. Plus, I occasionally share my bird photography.
This might be a good time to switch your subscription dollars to a locally owned independent publication.

I somehow managed to capture this photo of a black-capped chickadee during takeoff from the maple tree in my yard to the seeds I put out on my back step.

Looking at this pic instantly puts a smile on my face.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

We remember.
35 years ago, 14 students were killed & many injured because they were women. Their lives were cut short by a man who blamed feminists for his failings.
As we remember the victims at École Polytechnique, reflect too on the ongoing effects of gender-based violence and femicide.

My kid sister got hit in the crosswalk on Portland St at Caldwell Rd tonight around 9. One car hit her and pushed her into the other lane where another car hit her. Neither car stopped. If you were a witness or have any camera from around there please contact the police.

The other day when I was canvassing in Dartmouth for the provincial election, I met a nice couple who always vote but said they were still waiting for their voter info cards (which, as most know, aren’t a thing this time). I explained their options but worry how many others are in the same boat.

Why won’t the province use this simple equation to help solve the epidemic of gender-based violence in Nova Scotia?
