I love that the guy who makes over $1.5 million annually defends a rate hike that will see his income boosted for doing a great job making the company more money.

If Tim Houston is so concerned about democracy, he’d sit in the legislature for more than eight days, wouldn’t override decisions of Halifax regional council, would talk with reporters, and wouldn’t consider giving part of a provincial park to a private developer for a golf course.

Same.

There’s a few around the province. The Breton Bargain Binz in Truro is doing very well. Nicely organized and clean. Way better than the Desto Binz, which was honestly a very unpleasant (scary) experience.

Excellent choices. I reached back a little farther.

Should be, where I really want it to be for the sake of the best story I’ve read in ages?
May 14, 2025 at 5:51 PM
Exactly. Juggling 2-3 jobs & family/caregiver-type responsibilities is nearly impossible, especially when employers won’t try provide a set schedule - just 3-4hrs/day, scattered throughout a week. A living wage has to also equal the opportunity for FT hours (but then they have to offer benefits so…)

In addition to a better hourly wage, folks needing FT work need better hours. Random, unpredictable shifts, split shifts and/or shifts totaling less than 32hrs/wk are far too common. Bumping the minimum wage won’t create change if it’s done while cutting hours.
