Just got out Fantastic Four and it’s really fun! Not a perfect movie but definitely felt like a return to form for Marvel and importantly j felt like it was a film about a family.

Foundation (AppleTV) is like Star Wars without Jedi, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Weird Aliens and space battles. Turns out those things are pretty important

Really fun French (I think) crime-thriller about an innocent locksmith caught up with criminals and trying to get out. Enjoyed it a lot but caution if you rent it on VOD you’ll get a horrendous dubbed version. I had to buy it to get the original French version as bonus content. Ugh

Night Call

Superman (2025)
I thought it was awesome! I think it’s my favorite movie of the year (not the best) and I want to go see it again because it has A LOT it wants to say about our world and this moment. Crowd loved it as well lots of cheers and applause

Starts off a lot rougher than I remembered and it occurred to me that if this was released today it would be nit picked to death and negatively reviewed. But wow does the final act absolutely cook!

Oh boy. I guess it’s passable. Better than Fallen Kingdom on par with Dominion. Idk. I don’t really know what we’re doing here. There’s a story arc with a family that felt like watching a Land of The Lost episode. The whole arc should have been cut and saved 30 minutes

Really enjoyed this movie. It’s a straight forward samurai-western revenge mash up. Nothing terribly new here but if you enjoy this genre you won’t be disappointed. Only nit pick is the lead is so young I had a little difficulty with her fight scenes. The cast is superb though

Jurassic World Dominion. Better than Fallen Kingdom I guess but not exactly compelling. There were some interesting ideas and I suppose having the OG cast back excited people but we’re not exactly talking about Han Solo & Princess Leia.

F1. Saw this in IMAX and had a great time. It’s a glossy, fun movie mostly about how unbelievably handsome Brad Pitt is but that combined with spectacular locations and exhilarating race scenes and I’m happy

I expected to love this movie but I did not connect with at all and I’m not sure why. I know it’s gor a following but I found the main character/performance really grating. It’s definitely not a bad movie this is entirely a me issue. Still disappointing because I had high hopes

Untouchables. De Palma was such a master. Haven’t watched this for maybe 20 years and it’s striking how conservative politically it’s coded which I’m sure has been written about a ton. That aside Untouchables hums. It’s a western that then shifts seamlessly to a Hitchcock thriller. Loved it!

Phase IV is a weird & fun movie. The story is simple. Some stuff goes down in space and then the ants get real sassy! Modern general movie watchers probably won’t like it but if you’re an enthusiast who likes the low/mid budget sci-fi of the 70s you’ll like this one.
