New preprint with amazing work from @nchalas.bsky.social:

How does respiration influence (un-)predictable near-threshold perception? MEG, arousal modulation, excitability states, respiration phase-resolved connectivity changes - it's all there :)

Respiration as a dynamic modulator of sensory sampling
Respiration dynamically modulates sensory perception by orchestrating transient states of the brain and the body. Using simultaneous recordings of high-density magneto-encephalography (MEG), respirati...

Respiration facilitates behaviour during multisensory integration
The brain processes information from the external environment alongside signals generated by the body. Among bodily rhythms, respiration emerges as a key modulator of sensory processing. Multisensory ...

Recording Multimodal Data During Daily Activities!

This example showcases simultaneous ECG and movement data (accelerometer & gyroscope) from an ECG belt and wristband. We recorded data during cycling, rest, daily tasks, walking, and running.

Indeed! 📝

Our latest analyses revealed that the spatial distribution of single, simple, and easily interpretable time-series features, previously not considered in aging research, were highly predictive of individual age.

We explored a novel features space to describe M-EEG timeseries. These features are highly informative in differentiating brain states, even more than canonical features like power in predefined frequency bands! :D

Interest in brain-body coupling is rising. Current methods typically focus on a single brain-body axis, like heart-brain, in isolation. @danlikesbrains.bsky.social, @jgross.bsky.social, and I argue that the brain and body exhibit complex, multi-scale dynamics. Read more: osf.io/preprints/ps...

Time for a new preprint with @micahgallen.com and @jgross.bsky.social ! We try to make a case for 'brain-body states', lay out the complexity of nested temporal dynamics, and argue how low-dimensional embeddings of these states could be implemented in health and disease.
