Yesterday, at approximately 10 a.m., the Millstone 3 nuclear generating unit went offline. It does not appear to be a scheduled refueling.

Yesterday, @iso-ne.com notched its 106th duck curve day of the year, tying last year’s record. Today—and every duck curve day from now until the end of the year—will be a record-breaker.

Worth noting that ISO-NE recorded 100 duck days for the first time only last year—on November 25th.

Today is the 274th day of the year—106 of them (just about 2 out of 5) have been duck curve days here in New England.

* The ISO-NE data does not include 5.2 GW of current behind-the-meter solar productio. W/o BTM solar ISO-NE’s g CO2eq/kWh number would be higher still.

Meanwhile, in the UK…

The UK’s generating capacity is more than three times that of @iso-ne.com.

The U.S is in a fugue state.

The entirety of Trump administration policy becomes coherent once its purpose—to create dissociative disorder—is acknowledged.

🧵 Life comes at you fast…

Here, from @iso-ne.com’s Final 2025 Photovoltaic (PV) Forecast, is the ISO’s forecast of coincident “50-50” summer peak load reductions due to Behind-The-Meter solar.

Last week’s 100° F peak demand reduction exceeded all the 50-50…

Congestion pricing would provide the same benefits in Boston, but ask Josh Kraft if his promise to reduce traffic includes congestion pricing and he will invariably recoil in horror.

BTW, notice that Josh’s campaign to reduce Boston traffic requires sending trucks onto Boston streets?

A bumpy ride for @iso-ne.com this evening. Twenty-two hours ago, in anticipation of today’s beat, the ISO called a “power caution.” Sine then it has issued a series of four additional escalating alerts, the most recent an OP4 Action 5 Alert, meaning that the ISO planning to purchase available…

Driving earlier this week in Camberville and was passed in the opposite direction by what I assumed was a Google Street View vehicle, but now I’m not certain that it wasn’t a Waymo Robotaxi. There was someone in the driver’s seat though.

Can someone set me straight?

This week continues to manifest the profound changes that are underway in the ISO New England control area. Behind-the-meter solar peak production was more than 6,400 MW today—far more than any dispatched generating resource.
