There seems to be a sort of new-media age of pundits who are now guilty of being what they accused old-media of: being "pundit-brained" where everything is treated like chess where every move the Dems make is wrong and yet when Dems win a game of chess it's in spite of their moves, not because of it

Why is this the only response you have made to all the other comments? If you can't answer that question can you answer this: why do you LARP as some kind of working class blue collar whisperer when you are not working class blue collar but rather the PMC media professional you accuse others of?

Firstly 4 years is longer than 10 months. Secondly the number of Covid deaths under Biden included a large number of people who refused the vaccine just because it was Biden giving it out. Her logic implies it's the Democrats fault for that. How? Because they won the election instead of Trump?

Taylor Lorenz got caught being without a mask at her book launch event after scolding everyone for not wearing a mask well past 2020. Her excuse was she paid thousands to have continuous clean air ventilation. Gee, not everyone has that disposable wealth and trusted the efficacy of a free vaccine.

i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity

Sam Haselby spends everyday claiming Dems have too many academic liberals who don't understand working class culture ... while he went to an elite private school, elite universities, and his entire career has been in academia doing "the geography of New York through a Marxist lens"
Beyond parody

A lot of the biggest leftist media influencers whether it's Hasan Piker, Emma Vigeland, Nathan Robinson, Brianna Joy Gray, Krystal Ball etc grew up rich and/or went to elite universities. They have a theoretical view of what the blue collar working class man is based on a textbook about the 1950s.

But I also think there's an element of leftist insecurity projecting here. The truth is the leftist media sphere and movement at large is not working class/blue collar/rural. The DSA had its own census not long ago where the average income of membership is in the middle class bracket.

I agree. Their theory essentially is that the WWC who voted for Trump three times are mindless elves who don't know what they really want. Maybe you could listen to that in 2016. But after four years of Trump when his signature economic policy was a massive tax cut for the rich? That's bullshit.

Both Fetterman and Platner came from backgrounds that raised them comfortably middle class. Fetterman went to Harvard. Platner went to a private school and has an grandparent with a Wikipedia page as an architect.

That's exactly it but the problem is these kind of pundits are projecting. They want to act like vibes alone can win back blue collar voters (get a big beefy candidate) without having the self awareness that if you actually have been in the blue collar environment people sniff phoniness quickly

Hunter Biden was spot on when he called them out on dining off a tangential association with Barack Obama (junior speechwriters yet act like they ran the 2008 campaign and then the White House).

I think you'll find most of Platner's support and continued support comes from the left. Mills has been attacked as the choice of the liberal establishment in this race. That backfired

I agree many of them voted for Obama and Biden so are not completely lost for good. I don't believe Platner is a redemption story worth justifying when his controversy stems from actions at an age older than the young men of today.

I wish those people who parroted those lines would own up to it. There really was no real substantial difference in that primary to treat Fetterman's opponents with such disdain besides the fact a lot of the left at that time saw it as a proxy of the 2016 primary where this time they succeeded.

This was used against Connor Lamb when he ran against Fetterman. The idea was of Fetterman being the Bernie 2016 lumberjack looking white working class whisperer vs Lamb the milquetoast neoliberal vs Malcolm Kenyetta who was accused of being an IDpol candidacy just because he was close to Kamala

It's becoming increasingly obvious much of the online left has an obsession with thinking big beefy guys should be their natural constituency based on some theory they read of the 19th/20th century blue collar Man. Which is why they get carried away when one comes along

The lack of self-awareness of certain leftists in mocking No Kings as insufficiently radical while they've had ten months and have never put together something as big is incredible. If they know better why didn't they do it?

Something I never see these guys talk about is the possibility that Trump giving Netanyahu a win on Iran by bombing the nuclear sites may have played a part in Netanyahu giving something back. Trump didn't lose his base bombing Iran and arguably gained something long term with Bibi.

Unfortunately for you Dave you've done a terrible job trying to mask your edgy contempt for generic Democrats over the smallest things. Don't act surprised people have noticed that.

This is a good example of the problem the Democrats have in a media environment where the common uniting factor whether it's on the online right or online left is to run with unattributed gossip as fact. There's hundreds of staffers in Congress yet this one (1) unnamed person is treated as in charge
