There are two #TaxTheRich bills up for discussion tomorrow in WA state legislature. If you are a resident and are so inclined, please see this link from @investwanow.bsky.social for info about how to put yourself down as in favor of both of these bills. 40007319.hs-sites.com/urgent-alert-1

Day 10 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: golden shiny seahorse! Sometimes you make something and can’t stop staring at it in disbelief that you made it. This turned out so much better than expected!

Day 9 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: a first attempt at achieving a similar effect to the thousands of sequins and beads my mom used to sew one by one onto my skating dresses back when I was a competitive figure skater.

Day 8 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: I spent a lot of time making this test print design over from scratch, this time in Onshape instead of Fusion, while getting CAD lessons from my husband. There are still tweaks to make but these are so helpful that it’s worth it.

Day 7 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: nothing too exciting today. I redesigned my shapes with infill sample print and tested it, but it still needs tweaking. One major improvement is that I made the bottom of the frame large enough for a label.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.

Today would've been my dad's 83rd birthday. When my son was little, he asked me to read these lines about infinity and eternity by William Blake to him as he grew up.

Day 6 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: heart bookmarks! A different type of filament than previous days (Stardust and Celestial filaments from @polymaker.bsky.social) and an “Arena” PFLAT sheet from Kaizen 3D Prints on the build plate to add the holographic rainbow dots.

Day 5 of 100 days of 3D printing on fabric for #the100dayproject: I reworked the rainbow flower earrings from yesterday to make them actually work as earrings. I tried photographing them on a white background this time to get the colors more accurate.

Day 4 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject: I made a sample print that shows how different infills will look inside of different shapes for a specific filament, and stumbled onto a way to print a full rainbow of colors with just one red-blue-yellow triple color filament!

Day 3 of 100 days of 3D printing on fabric for #the100dayproject: I took my giant moon from yesterday and scaled it down into moon earrings. I love how light the earrings I’ve been printing on mesh are, and you can make the shapes seem to be floating because the mesh mostly disappears. #3dprinting

Day 2 of 100 days of #3dprinting on fabric for #the100dayproject. This one is MUCH larger than yesterday’s, so I included a photo with a colored pencil for scale. I wanted to play with different infill patterns and the way they change the look of these triple color filaments—very pleased!

The kittens (who are going on four, but are still “the kittens” around here) volunteered to help show off this print, but it turns out that their kind of help is a little too enthusiastic. I have to hide the illusion mesh from Pepper so he doesn’t try to eat it. #3dprinting #caturday

As a warm up for #the100dayproject tomorrow, let’s see how Bluesky handles video. I designed this rainbow heart and 3d printed it on illusion mesh on Thursday. The extra sparkly surface is from a magnetic P-FLAT sheet from Kaizen 3D Prints (who is an excellent resource for learning this technique).

Looking forward to starting on #the100dayproject tomorrow! I’m planning to do 100 days of 3d printing on fabric this year. Glad to see that others will be posting here on Bluesky.

I’ve had an absolutely awful day personally on top of everything going on in the world, so I’m going to post another cat photo instead trying for variety first. Behold Pepper, my extremely majestic son.

For anyone who is interested in illustrating picture books with Procreate, I can’t think of a more encouraging and upbeat and knowledgeable person to teach you how to do it than Ellie.
Last call! My Illustrate a Picture Book with Procreate class starts THIS Monday, January 27th. You get six 1.5 hour sessions for only $150! Plus, I record all classes and send skills sheets for review. I will probably not offer this course again until the fall.

I usually like to start off with tea as well.
How To Be a Writer, #111:
Open laptop
Look into the void
Scream into the void
Consider that maybe the void also sometimes feels this way about you
Ask the void if it takes milk
Choose a nice mug for the void
And maybe a chocolate biscuit
Lose yourself in the void

You’ve heard of the Princess and the Pea. Now meet The Prince and the Pile. He will dash across the house to claim any pile of clean laundry as his. I’ve learned to just fold and put away towels straight from the dryer or they become his under Cat Law.

Eight years ago yesterday, the kiddo and I celebrated Penguin Awareness Day to ignore what was going on that day. We’ve celebrated every year since, always with a meal including fish-shaped focaccia. I wish we hadn’t had the same event to focus away from once again, but the fish turned out well.

I’ve had this account for ages without figuring out how to begin, so I might as well just start off here with the cats. #catsofinstagram
